Angel meets the girl and falls in love with her. The angel goes against what he is supposed to do and takes a different part. At times, we have missions that we commit ourselves to fulfill in life. However, along the way one changes their mind and takes a different path. The angel’s sole responsibility was to guard the girl’s spirit to eternal life. However, he is carried away by manly desires and decides to hook the girl up.
Angel was supposed to purport a supernatural being. In the story however, angel seems to have changed his identity to a human being with the word “Angel” just as a mere identity. He is a man who even has the potential of going to honky tonk which are common joints particularly for drunkards. Paying a close look to the story, one is convinced beyond reasonable doubt that angel is a man who easily compromises his principles. As an angel he was supposed to live a life that is acceptable by the superior being since his name has some connotations with them. However, he chooses to follow the ways of the world. Personally, I have found myself in a similar dilemma. i was to choose between money and respect. Challenging as it was, I finally had to make a decision. Just as angel, I choose what I thought was better for me; money. However, money was not so important to me as I came to realize later. However, life is still full of hullabaloos and a choices need to be made.
The most noticeable moment in the story is when the angel starts crying and singing the saddest songs on the jukebox (Yourgrau 57). Girl develops a habit of regularly going out via the back door after the angel’s eye swell peculiarly. This actually becomes a source of sorrow to the angel. This shows that the girl had started disliking the same angel who brought her back to life. This clearly illustrates the lack of appreciation that is common in the contemporary society.
Each step of the analysis process gives a chance to closely scrutinize the story thus increasing my understanding as well as creating a connection between the story and my personal life (Gee 76). Reading the story without doing analysis might make one to misunderstand the facts or misinterpret some due to the erotic nature of the story. The analysis process can as well be used in the life after school since it makes one to clearly look at issues and try to develop a possible solution. The most enjoyable step is how actually the name angel connects with life. Generally the story is a fabulous piece.
