Team work is an aspect that individuals possess depending on their ability to cooperate and perform activities with their peers either through an organized way or voluntarily throughout their work. It is therefore essential that individuals would be able to work together without any form of coercion. This is significant in ensuring that the activity being carried out is achieved in an objective manner. In a learning process, teamwork is important in making it certain that learners have the ability to share and discuss the educational experiences (Topchik, 2007, pg 96). Consequently, team work is an attribute that enhances brainstorming amongst learners in school. This is conversely in ensuring that students can understand what is taught better from their peers. During the entire time with the group I have gained tremendously especially in improving my teamwork ability. To begin with, I have learnt that proper team work ensures that a group does its operations as per the expectations required (Beyerlein, 2000, pg 87).
Thus, to succeed in a given task, incorporating heightened team work is very significant to ensure that the objectives are met in a timely basis. However, proper team work is not only achieved by close association, it is noteworthy to ensure that there is adequate communication amongst the group members. This is vital in ensuring that everyone does what they are assigned to do and thus ensuring the achievement of a given task. As a result, I feel that I can be in a position to impact individuals within a group to have the required level of team work. To this regard I would also apply this insightful knowledge in my future career operations. For instance, being a businessperson in the future I would encourage employees to be cooperative and also embracing team work. This would be helpful in ensuring that I accomplish my objectives throughout my career. This would also be engaged in an office setting where I would work in association with colleagues in achieving the organizational goals.
I can affirm that my expectations for the unit this semester have been met through my engagement in the group. In the group, we ensured a productive team work which would help us realize the goals of the task. This helped us to manage conflicting viewpoints within the team. To achieve this we had to put into consideration a high degree of interpersonal interaction amongst the peers. This was enhanced by promoting proper and timely communication amongst ourselves (Parker, 2008, pg 104). Thus any arising matters with the scope of the given task were communicated and dealt with effectively. It was also to assign tasks among the members. This was to promote accountability within the group members. Thus, every person took full responsibility of a given task. This also helps peers to handle other given chores within the team. I had a usual participation and communication within my team. Thus I gave a lot of information and analysis to my peers.
This was in ensuring that we could cooperate productively to realize our objectives. I also had to provide more information and analysis as a way of ensuring that the group excels. Since our group embraced communication amongst the peers, I had to communicate even issues that were conflicting with other peers. However, this would be resolved through a process of brainstorming which would leave the team to uphold the most appropriate issue in contention. As illustrated in the evaluation sheet I usually met deadlines within the group. This was vital in ensuring that there was no any form of backlog within the team. I was actively engaged in the formulation of decisions that would help the group to excel. This could be attributed to the fact that I stayed motivated throughout the whole period in the group. Therefore, I had to make the decisions that would positively impact the team.
After this experience I can understand team dynamics better. Foremost I have learnt that time is of essence in achieving a high level of team work amongst peers. An individual should allocate maximum time in the team to ensure that they are actively utilized to achieve the given tasks. In another situation of team work there are things I would do differently so as to ensure productive team work. Foremost, I would ensure there is enough level of motivation for the peers. This helps to ensure proper team work within the group (Yeatts & Hyten, 1998, pg 146). Secondly, the team environment would be vital. Thus there should be a given environment which is most appropriate with the team. Lastly, there would be a close scrutiny of member actions and also efficient communication between the peers.
