Reforming the U.S. Healthcare System
Need to make healthcare accessible to all; one of the challenges the U.S healthcare have been facing is accessibility if the census report done by the government is anything to go by. This clarifies the position taken by the stakeholders to extend the insurance coverage to all the citizens in America. This is an attempt to improve the accessibility of the healthcare by common citizens. Watson (2012).
Need to extend health insurance coverage to all; given mixed public private system of the healthcare financing in the United States, the stakeholders have found it prudent to extend the health insurance coverage to all the citizens in the country. The extension of the insurance coverage is likely to improve the accessibility of the healthcare by majority of U.S citizens. This in turn will improve the quality of healthcare system in the country. Harrington and Estes (2008).
Need to ensure improved quality of care for low-income individuals; in order to improve the quality of care, the commonwealth fund supported a study of seven hospitals. This was aimed at improving the quality of diabetes care. The care was meant to take care of the poorest and most uninsured most of who are minority patients. The seven hospitals have greatly raised the quality of care to the national average. Harrington and Estes (2008).
In conclusion, the reforms being done so far in the health care system aims at improving the quality, affordability and the quality of the healthcare system. These are what clarifies the positions and tools used by various stakeholders to impact the healthcare system in U.S.
