Later, I was approached by Cask, which is a competitor and they wanted me to share some confidential information from my company. Cask offered ten thousand dollars in exchange for the information. I was attracted to the deal and I told them to give me three days, but after a critical thinking, I turned down the offer and reported the issue to my manager.
The decision I made not to give Cask the crucial information is a way of maintaining a relationship. When I entered into an agreement with Cryptek, I promised to obey all the ethics and do my roles wholly. Ensuring that I do not give out the information is a way to maintain the status quo, which is a necessity in any relationship.
My goals of success in career and life are guided by respect, trust, and honesty. The offer I was given by Cask was very appealing because at that time I wanted to buy a new car. The reason I had to turn down the offer is because I remembered honesty is a key determiner in any successful relationship. After turning down the offer from the company, I thought my dreams of buying the car were postponed, but my manager rewarded me with fifteen thousand dollars and a promotion. If I had taken the offer from Cask, there are high chances that the truth could have been known at some point and I could have lost my job. Honesty and respect helped me maintain my relationship.
