The performance of the stocks of some competitors has been lower than Microsoft as well, with Adobe giving a return of 20.83%, HP a negative return of 54.47% and Yahoo a negative return of 1.70% (Yahoo Finance).
The one year return on PG&E Corporation stock has been 26.99%. In comparison, Utilities index has increased by 16.53% during the period. However, the performance of the stocks of some competitors has been higher than PG&E, with Scana Corp giving a return of 42.54%, Avista Corp a return of 38.92%, XCel Energy giving a return of 33.81% and Edison International giving a return of 34.21%. Duke Energy had lower return than PG&E at 19.37%.
The one year return on Procter & Gamble stock has been 6.60%. In comparison, Non-cyclical Consumer Goods index has increased by 9.00% during the period. However, the peer comparison has been mixed with Unilever stock faring lower than P&G with 4.67% return while Colgate Palmolive returned 11.08%.
The one year return on Disney stock has been -19.31%. In comparison, Cyclical Consumer Goods index has declined by only 8.61% during the period. During the last one year, Comcast Corp returned much higher 8.16% while Time Warner returned -12.27%.
The one year return on Home Depot stock has been 21.73%. In comparison, Cyclical Consumer Goods index has declined by 8.61% during the period. The competitor Lowe’s Companies returned a similar 22.44% (Google Finance).
Microsoft and Home Depot have performed better than industry average and competitors, so they should be held in the portfolio. The performance of Disney and P&G has been low and they can be sold. PG&E has performed well, but lower than some of the peers. It can be kept on watch list for a decision at a later stage.
