Seven Sayings from Calvary
Father Forgive Them For They Know Not What They Do (Luke 23:24)
These words can be heard from the man whose last day were absolutely awful. But this words are nothing more than words of God who does love his kids. After all pain and tariffing deeds that that people had done to Jesus, he still proclaiming love ad salvation to everyone. He is asking for forgiveness for people who want to murder him. Is this word to direct forgiveness? Or those are words with permission to give them saving spirit, into their hearts? We do not know. “They truly do not know that they are doing: Killing the son of God, by whose death is ransomed from sin” (Prange, Luke 250)
Today shalt thou Be With Me In Paradise (Luke 23:43)
This words that Jesus are saying to criminal. That sentence keeps inside not just normal words, but also one more great promise. In this promise we can find salvation not only for criminal who was crucified on the cross next to Jesus, but those are the words of salvation for everyone who have true contrition, that they will be saved. Surely here, we can find the breaking argument who thinks that for salvation, blood of Jesus is not enough, and deeds are first on the way for salvation. But the truth is in that, that every man can be saved if he truly confess salvation through Jesus Christ. And everyone who believes will be saved, as the criminal who believed.
Behold Thy Son John (19:25-27)
Hard for hearing without a tears on the eyes. We can see that mother Mary were standing close to Jesus, and she was weeping for him. This is unimaginable pain, of seeing your kids are dying before you. Moreover, even though that Mary does know that Jesus is God, and a son of God, she gave birth to him. And Jesus could see that she was suffering, so when he was hung on the cross, he said to his mother that after he (Jesus) will leave, she will be protected with one of his favorite disciples. He is taking care of his mother even in the hardest times, and we can see that he is taking care of the 4th Commandment.
Behold Thy Mother John (19:25-27)
That was also the order for his disciple John, who was one of the favorite disciples to take care of his mother. And John deed that, one more thing that even he, as a sinful being were trying to follow every word of the true God Jesus Christ. And these words were said about taking care of the lonely woman who won’t be able to pass this trip alone. He knew that John will follow his orders, and John deed that. “Jesus wishes were met. John took Mary in to his home from that time. For those who wonder where Jesus’ brothers were now, we don’t know. It is likely, hoverer, that they had gone their own ways in unbelief at this time” (Baumler 251).
My God, My God Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me? (Matthew 27:45-50)
This question that Jesus had answered on Cavalry loudly, so everyone can hear those words. We cannot explain all words that we had herd from God, and I do understand that sometimes this is really good, for some answers for particaulr questions humans shall not know. And that question is one of many questions, that we don’t understand. “There is no answer to this question recorded in the 27th chapter of Matthew. It is a mystery, the mystery of God-man, and only because of incarnation, this is possible.” (Albercht, Matthew 421). I Thirst (John 19:28-29)
Words that were given in this part, have many explanations, and all of them are right. The prophecy that we can find in the beginning of New Testament about this, is hidden in the gifts that Magi had given to the new born Baby. “We can see rich symbolism in all three gifts. Precious gold suggests royalty, for Jesus was the King of Jews. The incense reminds us of Christs deity. Incense was regularly used in connection with worship at the temple. Myrrh symbolizes Jesus humanity and pointed to his suffering and deathIt (myrrh) also served as a kind of anesthetic when mixed with wine” (Albrecht 27). He was first as a man, and trust me, we will never know the feeling that Lord Jesus Christ had that day on the cross. He was thirsty. He spoke in order, again, to fulfill the Scriptures “They put gall in my food and gave me vinegar for my thirst.” (psalms 69:21), My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death.” (Psalm 22:15). Jesus received vinegar for his thirst and had foretold” (Baumler, John 252).
It's Finished (John 19:30)
Words of the end of suffering. End of Jesus suffering, and end of power of death over humans. Amazing words that are making our soul feel pity, and words that are giving humans a great chance for the salvation. The words that are describing us the ending point of the Jesus Christs path through all temptations and all suffer that devil had provided him in this sinful world. But it is amazing to imagine how Jesus were acting without even one simple sin, while the same time we can’t even move our finger without this. But he deed lived un sinful life, and now he is braking the arms of death away from our necks. It is finished forever.
Father, Into Thy Hands I Command My Spirit (Luke 23:46)
“This words are from Psalms 31:5, using by Jewish as a bedtime prayer” (Prange 253). The words is ab bedtime prayer. This is interesting and amazing and everything in one time. This words explains us how Christ will be resurrected soon, and also those are the words what are giving us explanation of what will happened to us in the last days. We are not dying, because one day we will be resurrected. Perhaps these words are also can be explained in many different ways, but I guess that God will provide the best explanation of this.
