In the first article, the author proposes various ways for improving the leadership of disaster management organizations. He specifically focuses on ways to build stronger partnerships between various concerned stakeholders. The article contends that long lasting partnerships arise from shared ideas of what constitutes risk as well as interests. The article contends that had the idea the authors are advancing been adopted, the handling of Hurricane Katrina would have been better. I agree with the position advanced by the authors. It is indeed true that stronger partnerships arise from common dreams or ideas. Such partnerships are highly efficient in managing disasters.
In the second article, the authors explore the benefits and opportunities that the social media presents in facilitating enhanced interaction between members of the public and the administrators of non-profit organizations. The study noted that these organizations are increasingly utilizing new forms of technology in their daily operations. The authors further note that social media has been instrumental in enabling organizations to manage their public relations practitioners. Use of social media has also proved to be a cost cutting measure. I agree with the position advanced by the authors. Social media has revolutionized communication and many benefits accrue to organizations which embrace it fully to further their core activities.
In the third study, the authors sought to examine how not for profit organizations engage their various stakeholders through social networking sites. The article particularly focuses on how these organizations make use of face book to interact with their various stakeholders. In the article, the authors note that organizations are increasingly adopting the use of social networking sites in their training programs. I concur with the goals of the study. It is also a step in the direction to training employees on how to make use of social media for the benefit of the organization. It is only then that the organization will reap maximum benefits from social media.
