This is a report about America history in the year between 1800 and 1880. This report was compiled after a visit to the National Museum. At the National Museum of America, various documents were discovered. These documents narrated historical events that took place in the United States since 1600. For this report, however, the historical events between 1800 and 1880 will be captured.
1800-1830: In the middle of 1800, Washington DC became the capital of the United States after Philadelphia. In December, Jefferson and Aaron Burr tie in elections for the presidency. Repeated run-offs saw Jefferson emerge the winner in February 1801. In the same year, New York enacted the Emancipation Act to set free over one million Black Americans. In 1803, President Jefferson sought the approval of the Congress for funds for an expedition to explore the Mississippi river. The aim of the expedition was to search for a route to the Pacific. In the year 1806, James Monroe and William Pinckney were assigned to Great Britain as commissioners to resolve the looming conflict between America and Britain. Britain was capturing American Warships for dissertation during the war with France. After having lost his position as the vice president, Aaron conspired to blackmail the leadership of Jefferson. James Madison becomes elected as the president and takes over on the conflict issue, .
In 1819, the number of Free states becomes equal to the number of slave states. Black males get a chance to vote between 1820 and 1821. John Quincy Adams wins over Andrew Jackson in a disputed election of 1824. In 1825, New York gains commercial status and barns slavery in the following year. The next election of 1828 saw Andrew Jackson win and become the president, .
1830-1850. the slaves in Georgia were denied education opportunity. In 1832, blacks obtained their first chance to education with the establishment of Oberlin College in Ohio, . In 1835, Texas gains its independence from Mexico and President Martin van Burn would be elected in 1836. In 1837, America experiences depression and panic.
1850-1880. this period was marked with the birth of Theodore Roosevelt, and Kaiser Wilhelm is bornin1859. Lincoln becomes elected as president in 1860. America goes into Civil War in the period 1860 to 1864. The state of Virginia follows South Carolina in secession. Slavery was banned in the District of Columbia. Race riots broke up in New York City in
1863. Lincoln becomes reelected as president in 1864 elections only to be shot and killed. Confederate Army surrenders to mark the end of civil war in the same year, . In 1868 president, Johnson is impeached before being acquitted. Grant was then elected President. In 1870 black males are handed right to vote except black women. Many blacks were elected to political office in 1871. Their number was seven in the 43rd congress house. Federal troops were released to protect blacks in Vicksburg. The number of blacks in the congress increased to eight. The 45th congress saw the number of blacks in the congress reduce to three. In the 46th congress, the number went further down to one. 1881 was marked by the birth of Hitler, .
