MY VISIT TO THE ISLAMIC CENTRE
As a Muslim, visiting the Islamic centre is one thing that strengthens my religion and brings me closer to my people. In this case, there is a wide range of activities that take place around the place. Therefore, after shifting from Saudi Arabia to the United States of America in 2009 I maintained the same e trending of attending Friday prayers in the Islamic Centre of the Conejos Valley. In this case, I noticed a great difference with my home town where there was the use of different speeches (Khutbah) that was not commonly used back at my home town. In this case, people made use of their phones. The first visit at the mosque in the United States gave me a series of challenges where there was general language barrier. I was not able to understand the speeches (Khutbah) due to my lack of ability to understand and comprehend English at the time. My first visit to the Islamic centre was in June 26 which took a period of two hours.
A clear look at the vision statement of the Islamic centre at the mosque clearly states that this is a leading Islamic organization across the world that is aimed at integrating all the Muslim-Americans into the existing pluralistic American society. In this case, they are aimed at providing religious teachings that require general working in harmony with the other faith groups as well as the civic organizations in order to enhance the existing and collective future of all the people. Visiting the centre also made me aware that there is a general factor of promoting the celebration of the Islam life as well as its overlying inclusive nature. A look at the mission statement also points out that they are aimed at striving to practice and also present the Islam with education, religious, and social activities for the purpose of uniting the local community in the Ventura County. In this case, a socially responsible Muslim is generated by the organization with a clear Muslim-America identity.
On visiting the Islamic Centre, I was able to encounter a series of activities that take place in order to unite people in different ways. For instance, they are able to fund various programs that initiate the youth in the local community to engage in various capacity building programs. In this case, they engage in programs that help them shape their life and even obtain a series of certifications for them. Therefore, they are able to help the local community in various challenging aspects including the use of drugs among the youth, unemployment among the people, early sex marriages witnessed among the young people, and many other activities that affect the current society in different ways. In this case, they are able to reach down to the people and offer different kinds of helping activities facilitated by the Islamic centre.
In general, my visit to this place gave me a chance to realize how the Muslim community has grown and is willing to step up an offer their assistance to the society. I was able to see the services that are offered at the centre which include burial and cemetery where they offer help for people to bury their dead in the right Islamic way, marriage where they provide Islamic marriage services, and other related social activities and events.
