[Assumption]: Age does not affect the reasoning capacity of an individual on critical issues such.
[Objective]: To examine whether reading a hazard guide book had the same effect on both children and adults.
[Research Hypothesis]: Adults are more likely to change their hazard adjustment than the children after reading the hazard guidebook.
[Survey Instrument]:
Empirical Design. Quasi-Empirical Design.
All the participants, that is, both children and adults, will be asked to rate their hazard adjustment level before reading the hazard guidebook. To ascertain whether the guidebook had any impact on them, they will be asked the same questions again after reading the guidebook. They will fill in a questionnaire.
Variables:
Age (Independent variable), Intentions to adopt hazard adjustment and behavior change (dependent variable)
Measures:
Age will be measured as a dummy variable (i.e. 0=children and 1=adults). The level of hazard adjustment will be measured by numbers 1 to 5 according to the degree of adjustment before and after reading the guidebook. Number 5 would be representing very unsatisfied while 1 would represent very satisfied.
Statistical Hypothesis:
Alternative Hypothesis: The level of adjustment of the adults after reading the hazard guidebook will be higher than that of the children after reading the same book.
Null Hypothesis: there will be difference in the level of adjustment between children and adults after reading the hazard guidebook.
[Data Collection]:
Data Collection Method: Questionnaire.
Expected Response Rate: 70%.
Sampling: The survey will randomly select 500 adults and 500 children while adhering to the sampling error under the XX%. The study will yield 250 valid responses.
Procedure: each participant will be given a questionnaire containing the questions, introduction and consent later; also included will be the hazard guidebook. The participants will be asked to be getting their documents ready in weeks after which the questionnaires will be physically picked.
[Data Analysis Method]: T-Test.
[Expected Outcome]:
The information will be an important tool to the local administration as to whether hazard management procedure should only be communicated to adults or not.
[Limitation of the Survey]:
Error: Error of omission and commission will be committed during data collection and analysis.
Non Compliance: several respondents might not answer the questions as directed. Others may fail to submit the filled in questionnaire for analysis.
