Research Method:
Evaluating the efficacy of ACT can be evidently seen with the previous studies that has scientific reviews about it. It is clear that the function of the ACT framework is outside of a conventional clinical study. Thus, the efficacy of it can be qualitatively approached. Previous research about the framework could give an insight on how to go about with it. It is relative that there are few studies conducted on the recovery period of the ACT framework.
On the context of this research paper proper definition of ACT framework shall be given. It can also be applied to a certain area with people that are mentally ill. Moreover, a survey for a specific ACT framework within an area could also be done as an additional report. The proponents of the survey include the healthcare professionals, immediate family of the patient and the individuals in the community involved with the ACT framework. This is a qualitative evaluation research (Anderson, 1999).
ACT FRAMEWORK
Defining mental health promotion first can help us understand why that there is a need for an ACT framework. Mental health promotion is a set of activities that helps an individual regains his psychological, mental, emotional and physical nature. Such activities encourages people to have a positive outlook, enhanced quality of life as well as bridging the gap between mentally ill people and the normal ones (WHO, 2004).
ACT framework is the stage by which a certain individual that has mental illness will be given proper medical and social care. The system would entail the over-all factors that the medication team may apply. The patient that has undergone clinical recovery from mental illness can also be helped with the ACT framework. This also includes the recovery period of the patient. The assessment of this period is very essential so that moving forward; it can be guaranteed that the patient is responding to the intervention.
It is very evident that to classify every factor that is involved in the framework must be given of importance. The team approach is not a group of individual case specialists or managers but entails to a self-contained and an integrated treatment program that member work in collaboration. Thus, teamwork must be applied in accordance to the whole plan that is used for the certain patient.
Relative Data
It is evident that a previous research regarding the ACT has not given a clear result. Moreover, the patients’ recovery period is still in question. This is because some patient would still need to be admitted in a hospital (Stuen, Rugkåsa, Landheim & Wynn, 2015). Data from previous study will not be use in analyzing the assessment made for the patient. The survey forms given to the healthcare professional as well as to the patient shall be analyzed.
Mobile Healthcare
This is the unit by which the intervention for the patient’s recovery is taken care of. The healthcare professionals are recruited as per needs of the mentally ill patient. Nurses would directly take care of the patient with the consent of the immediate relatives. The notes from these attending healthcare professionals can be asked. This is in accordance with their permission. Doctors and psychiatrist can be called outright if there is a need for them. This is the ideal set up for the ACT Framework.
Area of Intervention
The proponents of the study shall have an area of interest wherein the assessment of the ACT framework can be done. This could be a specific ongoing mobile healthcare to a certain patient in the vicinity. In this particular study the area of interest will be in Texas.
METHODS OF ACT ASSESSMENT
Every part of the research needs to be given a variable. This would allow the proponents of the study to determine which part of the framework is not working. The healthcare professional’s teamwork can also be assessed qualitatively. The survey form will include the materials used, planning and response of the immediate family.
Pre- intervention period:
The patient shall be assessed on what condition he or she is in. The responsiveness and self-care methods must be also given of importance. The question for this survey can be given to the healthcare professionals. The proponents can also ask for data from the attending psychiatrist. The areas to be assessed are self-care, interpersonal activities, communication and understanding, and work. The immediate family can directly answer to the survey. However, the cooperation of the family to give out honest opinions would be out of the scope of the study. Previous physician and psychiatrist that have attended the specific patient can also be consulted with regards to the assessment.
Post-intervention Period:
The raw data for the patient assessment can be accumulated from a survey to the directly involved people with regards to the ACT framework. The immediate family must also take the survey as well as the attending healthcare professional. This time the attending team shall encourage the family member to participate in order for the patient to be properly assessed. It is evident that not most of the time the team can talk with the patient and only the immediate family can provide concrete comments about the patient’s condition. However, the assessment made by the Doctor and the Psychiatrist will be based on their separation sessions with the patient. They are also encouraged to take the survey.
Survey
This will be the qualitative assessment of the efficacy of ACT for the mentally ill. The major attribute that is evaluated with this survey is the total personality of the patient. Proper Self Care means that the ability of the patient to take care of his personal hygiene can be addressed. Secondly, the ability of the patient to respond to questions and demands of other people that are surrounding him must also be tallied. This pertains to the politeness, regulation of verbal and physical aggressions, and his behavior if there is a stranger. Thirdly, the ability of the patient to understand verbal and non-verbal messages is also an essential factor. This could give an insight that the person has the ability to maintain a proper conversation. Moreover, this assessment factor could also gauge the sociable aspect of the patient. Lastly, the ability of the patient to work is a final scale on how the patient can interact to the outside world (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, 2010).
