Change is important for businesses to survive and flourish. Business undergoes different changes. This report discusses about the change that has taken place at Google and Samsung as both companies implemented Android.
In the third quarter of 2012, Android had captured 75% market share in the global market. The total activated devices in the global market are 750 million along with per day activation of 1.5 million. The operating system’s success has made it a target for patent litigation as part of so-called Smart phone competition between technology companies. As of May 2013, 900 million Android devices have been activated (Android, n.d.).
This operating system has been implemented at Google and Samsung. This operating system has changed the way many mobile phone manufacturers have been operating.
Android brings the disastrous change in the Global market of mobile phones. It had changed the trend of mobile phones to smart phones. It is Linux based operating system designed mainly for screen mobile device that offer the facility of touch for example smart phones and tablet computers (Schmidt, Raddatz, Schmidt, Camtepe, and Albayrak, 2009). Initially the system was created by Android, Inc., and it was financed by Google and then later on it was bought in 2005. Android was unveiled in 2007 along with the founding of open handset Alliance. Alliance is a group of software, hardware, and telecommunication companies that are dedicated to enhancing open standards for mobile devices. First Android-powered phone was sold in the year 2008. By selling this phone, Google became the pioneer of the smart phone.
Samsung
The Samsung brand i7500, branded as Samsung Galaxy in various countries, is the best well-known mobile phone made by Samsung to use the open source, Android operating system. Samsung has also made the changed and transformed its system to incorporate Android operating system in its mobile phones. Samsung announced in April 2009 to use Android. This mobile set was introduction in more than 20 countries in less than a month. This mobile phone helped the company in increasing its market share.
