1.) Data Collection Technique
The data collection method that was used for the study is survey. The survey measurement was used in the study because it is a method which endeavors to gather information about a determinate collection of items. The researcher decided to use bank robbery field survey instrument and commercial robbery field survey instrument because both of the survey can define the measurement error. In the first survey used for the bank robbery field survey, the true values are accounted for to verify if they can exist independently without the survey conditions. In the second survey of commercial robbery field survey, the true values were used in connection to the survey conditions present in the setting. Based on the bank robbery field instrument survey, the questions that are contained in the survey pertains to the location of the bank, the nearby establishments surrounding the bank, and the number of ATM (Automated Teller Machines) within the bank’s premises. It also asked specific questions such as night deposit system and the drive deposit, available parking and stoplight. The data gathered based on the answers are considered essential survey conditions which are determined by individual observation and the true value for the participant of the survey. Some of the more important conditions to watch out for are: type of the interviewer, quality of supervision, weather conditions because they have the tendency to affect the actual result of the survey.
2.) Types of Questions
The questions that were asked conformed to the qualitative research method because it focused on using statements in the analysis. The qualitative method is regarded as the approach that has a higher probability to establish extensive and yet detailed information. As result, such method will make the findings more accurate and believable. When compared to the quantitative research, it has the tendency to cover more people, which shall result to more generalized findings of the study. Based on the survey questions presented, it comprises of research review, participant observation and focused interview.
The method used was the cross sectional data collection because the data is cheaper and less time consuming when compared to longitudinal method. The longitudinal method has the tendency to be more extensive and better suited for causal research than the cross-sectional data. However, the only potential problem for longitudinal studies is slow destruction.
The survey questions were applied to banks and commercial establishments, which have the same set of questions that will determine the possibility of robbery incidents in the neighborhood of such establishments. The advantage of using the longitudinal research will entail a more extensive procedure and is well-suited for causal research. However, based on the longitudinal research is that, it requires lengthier method to finish. In this given survey questions, the evaluation research based on the evaluation research shall bear the greatest variations. This finding in relation to the time spent and will depend on the sense of urgency in the questions. The strength of using the cross-sectional data collection is that it is a practical means and easy to maintain. The disadvantage of longitudinal collection of data is that it is more costly and takes a longer time to accomplish the survey questions.
Based on the bank robbery field instrument survey and the commercial, the questions are easier to answer, compared to the longitudinal method. Theo cross-sectional data is considered more practical. Here, the survey pertains to the location of the bank, the nearby establishments surrounding the bank, and the number of ATM within the bank’s premises are shorter answer to analyze the robbery incidents of potential bank robbery and commercial establishments.
