Compliance and attack prevention
Brenner (2010) postulates that the system regulatory, product compliance and codification is the most effective approach of reducing vulnerabilities, threats and attacks to systems. Compliance ensures that the systems and its components are in accordance with the laid down rules and principles that govern the operation and existence of the system (Watson, & Hamid, 2010).
The patriot act signed into law by President Bush on October 26 2001 provides tools that are needed to obstruct and distract attacks (Smith 2010). It also vests more power to the respective authorities to investigate terrorist attacks ( Andrew 2001 ) therefore Adagia telecom should report the incident to the respective law enforcement authorities. The investigation that will be carried by the law enforcement authorities will provide some information on the motives; methods of crime perpetration used in the attack and thus help in prevention of future attacks (Michael 2001).
However, despite the fact that the laws and regulations have been enacted to aid in the investigation of such crime, the strategy is not forceful enough (Jeffrey 2004). According to Mark Rosh, a former computer crimes prosecutor in the justice department, more laws and regulations are needed to strengthen these laws (Chesney et al 2005).
The law enforcement may, however, find it difficult in finding the perpetrators and prosecuting them due to the collision between the two factions, that is, the privacy advocates who are fighting for individual privacy rights and the crime and terrorism fighters. The privacy advocates are fighting for a maximization of liberty while the other group tries to minimize cybercrime (Michael 2001). Despite the fact that a law to curb cyber crime has been enacted there is also a law that protects individual rights allowing cyber terrorists to use anonymity to engage in public debates over the cyber space without fear of incrimination or reprisal (Jeffrey 2004).
