Apple Inc is one of the largest multinational corporations in America. With its headquarters in Cupertino, California, the company has enacted a massive revolution in the technological world through its non-ending innovations. Apple was founded by the late Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniack in 1977, and today it is the leading producer of technological gadgets in the world. Apple’s products range from computers, smart phones, televisions amongst others. Two of the most renowned Apple brands are the iPhone and the iPod Touch.

Unlike the BlackBerry, the iPhone possesses a distinct and unmatched user interface that is both intuitive and ultra-friendly.

The iPhone is a gadget that combines an iPod (which is actually a music player), a mobile phone and internet browsing device in one handheld product. It is based on the popular Apple Multi-Touch user interface. The iPhone supports a host of applications that range form from web browsing, desk-top class email, and maps amongst others. In addition, the device grants users access to the iTunes music stores where they can download video and audio files. From its inception in 2007, the iPhone has undergone various modifications and the most recent gadget is the iPhone 5.
Product market positioning
The iPhone has currently positioned itself in the market place as the choice brand for the affluent members of society, innovators and individuals with relatively good jobs. This particular product positioning has worked because the world is currently at an age where there is an inflation of wages and affordability. Therefore, more people are affording the iPhone and there is a boom in sales of the product. Few years ago, the device was virtually unaffordable but times have changed and more people are buying the iPhone.

The price of the iPhone has been relatively stable for the last few years. The price of the iPhone varies with its internal memory capacity. The prices for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB iPhone is
$ 199, $ 299 and $399 respectively.
Distribution
The iPhone is currently distributed to all corners of the world where it has enjoys massive successive especially in regions where people are technologically savvy, for example the European and the Asian continents and also the domestic American market. The product is distributed in three major ways; through Apple’s website, through physical Apple stores located in many countries and through third party retail shops or stores.
Positioning improvement
Although the iPhone’s current market positioning has been successful, there is still room for improvement. One particular aspect of the positioning that could be improved relates to the target market. Instead of exclusively targeting the more affluent members of the society, a less expensive iPhone device with subsidized features could be manufactured for the average members of the society. This will ensure that they also enjoy a piece of the iPhone cake and the producer Apple will gain more revenue
The iPod Touch
Released in the year 2007, the Apple iPod Touch has revolutionized entertainment, web browsing and online sharing through the use of e-mails. Unlike other iPods, this unique garget comes with other applications such as games, spreadsheets and word. In fact since its launch in 2007, I.T experts have described this product as an “iPhone without a phone”, because of its phone-like features.

For a person with a taste for a single entertainment device with the ability to support a chain of applications and tasks, the Apple iPod Touch is an elegant, fashionable music player that comes with a fast internet access, quality music, video features and above all, a retina display, high resolution and a stylish thin shape. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Player, this device is backed by phone-like features that besides entertainment provide one with relevant applications designed to satisfy the modern I.T needs.

Originally designed to target the larger teen population globally, this product has remained teen’s number one because of the many youth-friendly features and applications that come with it. Its ability to support a series of applications and ability to play music and movies, display e-books, check e-mails and take videos and photos has been the pillar that has made this product sell better than its key competitor from Samsung. The retina display, sharp and fine screen and its thinness has made it the most stylish player on the market
Product Cost
Although critiques have adamantly said that the Apple iPod Touch is very expensive, most of the Apple’s clients have pointed out that the features that accompany the product make it irresistible despite the price and no one would feel a pinch to part with $200 or more. The superior features and elegant appearance are two things that have differentiated the Apple iPod Touch from the rest.

The distribution is similar to the iPhone where it is distributed all over the world in three major ways: through Apple’s website, through physical Apple stores located in many countries and through third party retail shops or stores
Positioning improvement
The price of the Apple iPod Touch does not favor the low class. Therefore, Apple should produce a cheaper player that favors the pocket of the low income earners without necessarily removing some features.
