Type of research: This research is a quantitative research that is titled “Regret and police reporting among individual who have experienced sexual assault”. It is a systematic empirical research that entails asking of narrowed pre-designed question to help collect appropriate data.Purpose of the study: The purpose of the study is to determine associated decision regrets found to be linked with sexual assaults reporting among those that have experienced it before. Design/Methods: This is made up of a cross-sectional descriptive model that is focused on specific age group a previous research has shown to be at risk of the proposed question. That age group was found to be 18-25 years of age simply because most of the individual at this age group are in the college and they are at risk of sexual assault without reporting. Sample Size; 78 people including both men and women.Type of sample selection: The selection here has more white women compared to other raceMethodology: Involves consideration of the regret, demographic information, the assault characteristics and the adverse health outcomes that could be associated with the research questions.Research questions/hypothesis: To what extent, and in what manner, do selected independent variables explain variation in levels of decisional regret with regard to reporting SA to the police?Analysis tools and tests: SPSS version 17 was used to analyze the dataResults: Variables that were accounted for in the results are the weight change, stranger assailant, professional treatment and police reporting. Each of this is somewhat dependent on one another. Findings shows that the regret resulting from the experience could lead to weight change from change in the dietary habit.Conclusions: it was concluded that this research field is still young and it is a novel aspect for research by several investigators.
Implication for nursing can be attributed to the fact that it is a research that improves the understanding of the changes and effects of regrets or non-police reporting found in people with sexual assault experience. The advance knowledge in this area can help promote further research in such areas relating to handling of such individual whenever they seek professional help.
