Designing effective learning objectives is very significant in an organization. This is because there is a need to design learning objectives which are in tandem with the organization`s training strategy. As such, learning objectives should be geared towards achieving desired outcomes under specified standards and conditions. In addition, effective learning enables an employee to acquire necessary knowledge and skills that he or she can use to achieve the organization`s goal.
There are various methods that can be employed in designing learning objectives that are in tandem with an organization`s training strategy. These methods include social learning theory, Gagne-Briggs micro theory of design, support of peers and supervisors, and elaboration theory. Firstly, utilizing social learning theory to design learning objectives is very essential. This is because social learning theory provides a framework for designing learning objectives in an organized manner. It enables designers to verify the factors that ensure maximum attention during training. This is important as learners need to be attentive in order to grasp as much knowledge as possible. In addition, social learning theory not only enables designers to determine the factors that motivate learners during training, but also enhance the determination of factors that lead to maximum retention of skills taught. Secondly, Gagne-Briggs micro theory of design enables designers to determine how knowledge will be transferred from trainers to learners. It considers issues that entail over learning, practise, job similarity, and part or whole learning. Thirdly, elaborative theory enables designers to examine the sequences of events in training. Further, it enhances easy presentation of skills during training. Lastly, the utilization of peers and support in a work group is important. This is because it provides a supportive environment that is essential for effective design .
In conclusion, the methods that can be utilized to design effective learning objectives include social learning theory, Gagne-Briggs micro theory of design, support of peers and supervisors, and elaboration theory. These methods can be used in any organization.
