Introduction
Across the world, various people have been recognised in various fields due to their outstanding contributions and performances. In most cases, what makes an individual stand out is creativity. This paper seeks to discuss the relationship between creativity and motivation. Further, it seeks to give an explanation as to why the relationship is essential.
Creativity refers to the development of a new concept that has never existed before. Creativity is valuable and can be in the form of an invention, solution, literary work, painting, or even a joke. Creativity is generally linked to intelligence. Moreover, creativity can be enhanced through training and education. Educational courses should be structured in such a way that students are able to nurture their talents. This is because it is through practice that people enhance their creativity.
Creativity is widely believed to be related to ones` level of motivation. Motivation is rooted from two main sources. This includes intrinsic and extrinsic form of motivation. Intrinsic form of motivation contributes positively towards creativity. This is because an individual can be motivated by an inward drive to achieve a given goal. As such, the desire to realize certain results can make him or her invest heavily on improving his or her creativity. Nonetheless, extrinsic form of motivation normally impedes creativity.
Importance of the relationship between motivation and creativity
It is essential to determine the relationship between creativity and motivation due to one main reason. It enables one to learn how to nurture someone`s talent. This is because it is not advisable to induce creativity through monetary promises.
Conclusion
Creativity can be linked to motivation. Intrinsic motivation positively influences creativity since one invests heavily on something with a desire to realize a particular goal. On the other hand, extrinsic form of motivation may at times impede creativity.
