Cloud computing refers to the technology that utilizes the internet as well as other remote central servers that are used to maintain all the data and applications of an organization. This paper discusses the concept of cloud computing in relation to the United States and whether it has any benefits to the country. Cloud computing as an emerging trend in technology stands to benefit the United States in a number of ways. To begin with, there is the benefit of shifting of economic and business models that are utilized in the providing of the consumption of Information technology. This has proved to lead to significant saves in costs (Jackson, 2011)
There are various types of cloud computing models in the market that are used today. These include the public cloud, the community cloud, the hybrid cloud as well as the private cloud. For the United States of America, as a vast nation that has massive internet applications usage, the hybrid cloud is advised. This comprises two or more types of cloud computing models that have been integrated to come up with a superior model that can be efficiently utilized between agencies.
The type to be utilized for critical infrastructures as well as public-private partnerships is the community cloud is advised. This is because it has the capability to spread and share the infrastructure between various organizations that utilize the same cloud. Additionally the community cloud has the potential of managing organizations that share similar concerns. These include compliance, security concerns as well as jurisdiction concerns between the organizations.
