Part I: Topic selection
Based on the instructions provided, the month and decade to be explored are October and 1970s respectively. The best topic for the London Time article selected in this case is Quebec Crisis. This article in this case study is dated 12 October 1971. In summary, the article expounds on a series of events when two top government officials were kidnapped by the FLQ. As a result of such kidnappings, the only culminated solution was a peaceful introduction of War Measures Act. The entire scenario became a very evoking in the entire province of Quebec and therefore became a centre of investigation of most machinery.
The prime minister then gave orders for the military troops to be sent throughout the country in order to conduct a thorough mission of order and investigations. With great emphasis, the military troops dwelt more in Ottawa than any other regions. This was according to the directional command issued from the military boss. The International topic of choice in this assignment is referred to as War Measures Act.
During the termination of the Present War (definition) Act in 1918, it was provided in the council that his majesty would declare the date which was to be treated as the date of the termination of the present war. The date that would be declared would still be the date of the exchange or deposit of ratifications of the treaties of peace, and that His majesty would also declare the date to be treated as the war termination date between him and any particular state as follows:
On the twenty eighth day of June, 1919, at Versailles a peace treaty between the allied and associated powers and Germany was signed on His Majesty’s behalf. By the said peace treaty, it was provided that a process-verbal of the ratifications’ deposit should be drawn up immediately Germany ratified the treaty together with three of the principal Allied powers. From the date of the process-verbal the treaty would come into force between the high contracting parties who ratified it.
Germany, having ratified the treaty, plus the three of the principals allied and associated powers and his majesty, a process-verbal as the same had been drawn and dated the 10th of January, 1920. The peace treaties with other belligerents had not yet been ratified and it was important to declare the date, which was to be treated as the date of the war termination with Germany before the date of the termination of the present war could be declared.
Thus, His Majesty with the advice of His Privy Council ordered that the tenth day of January would be treated as the war termination date between him and Germany.

Question 1
What was learnt about research during this study captures the entire mode of topical arrangement of books in the library. The concept where related books can only be found either to the right or left of a book forms part of the newly acquired knowledge from this assignment. Question 2
About my topic of study, I have come to realize how serious issues to do with state security can be handled. This is with respect to the elements spelt in the war measures act.
Question 3
My topic widely connects to the entire theme on GenEd111 course based on the international and historical approach given. Even though this research is more of library study, a lot of information has been borrowed from the historical background to make the topic relevant to the course.
