Part 1: Company Profile
Step 1: State Research Purpose
The purpose of this research is search for the information about a company I have wished for so long to work. I have decided to search for this information from an American Multinational by the name, General Motors, (GM).
Step 2: Take a Mental Inventory
As a financial analysis, I have been looking for a financial job position in eFinancialCareers.com. After searching for the opportunities in different companies and organizations for any position relevant to finance, I came across an Assistant Chief Financial Officer in General Motors branch in San Diego, California. General Motors is one multinational company that I have longed to work for. I have General Motors for its motors manufacturing business and it was not the first time I was getting to know about General Motors.
Step 3: List Research Questions
My urge to work in General Motors has prompted a number of question about the company’s internal and external operations at local and international arena. The question I would want to seek answers for in this company are:
Where is the location of the Company?
What does the company manufactures or sell?
What is the vision of the company?
Which is the potential market for the company’s services or products?
Step 4: Find Sources

The web site page for the General Motors offers a varied series of services and links which give any person looking for information from the company a direct connection to such information. I found the job position I was interested in was posted on the company’s official web site on the section of careers.
The official GM.com web site has provided me with fundamental information of the company on its products, management, competitors and customers (Kashyap, Anil and David, 219). I found these information useful as they guided me on the various operations of the company across different nations in the global arena.

I have also searched in the United States Securities Exchange web site, www.se.gov/ and the information I have acquired about General Motors Company has been of great significance to this research. The information provided by the United States Securities Exchange web site entailed General Motors financials, management and current performance trends in the motor industry.
Step 5: Answer Research Questions
After exploring on different sources of information about General Motors Company, I came up with the following answers to my research questions:
Where is the location of the Company? The web site of the General Motors Company indicated clearly that the company has its headquarter in Detroit, Michigan. The company has several manufacturing outlets in different countries.
What does the company manufactures or sell? GM deals in manufacturing, designing, marketing and distribution of vehicles and vehicle parts.
What is the vision of the company? The company propels on the vision to make the best vehicles and ensure delivery for exceptional cars which would provide great experience to the customers.
Which is the potential market for the company’s services or products? The company has potential markets all over the globe. The have their largest market in United States, and other equally chuge markets in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Step 6: Present Research
The global auto company has been in business for more than 100 years. The company was started in 1908 in form of a holding company for Buick and Mclaughlin Stocks. By the year 2012, the company had a record of employing more than 201,000 employees across the globe (Hearit 381).
Part 2: Summary of a Community
Step 1: State Research Purpose
The purpose of this particular research is to specifically search for the information about a city I would like to live and work in. the city I chose is San Diego, California.
Step 2: Take a Mental Inventory
San Diego, California is a nice place for me to both live and work. It is a city with conducive atmosphere which brings tranquility of the mind for the corporate world and corporate personalities. Even though, San Diego City has a high cost of living but this should be catered for in the process of negotiating the remuneration terms of my job specifications. The great national recreation outlets available in the city provide a greater experience for family people and I think this city would offer the best of experiences for my family.
Step 3: List Research Questions
The Questions I would want to ask about City of San Diego in California would be:
What is the weather conditions in the city?
How is the sanitation, health and safety standards of city rating?
What is the conditions and pricing of the housing system in the city.
Step 4: Find Sources
I explored on the internet sources to find information about San Diego, California, www.sandiego.org/. This web site proved very useful in my search about different information of the city.
Step 5: Answer Research Questions
The weather condition in San Diego, California is depicted to be ranging from 69F-62F, with winds at 5-10 mph. this may rate relative high but I think I would cope up with it appropriately. On the other hand, the city of San Diego has a clear municipal management of waste across the city with high use of great technology in waste management. The health facilities in the city are highly advanced.
Step 6: Present Research
The city of San Diego provides a cool ambience for living and even working in such environment. This is one of the major cities in California and is situated on the coast side of the pacific Ocean within the peripheries of Southern California (De Lorean, John and Patrick 170). By 2015 the city had a population of 1,394,928. It is situated about 120 miles in the South of Los Angeles. The city has a mild-year routine climate with extensive beaches, and natural water habors.
Part 3: Personal Positioning Statement
Step 1: State Research Purpose
The purpose of this project if make a review of the previous and the current research in combination to may personal understanding on the aacpects of seeking a finance position in the General Motors Company in the City of San Diego, California. This would therefore help me in writing my personal positioning statement to be used for the cover letters and job interviews.

Going through my different previous projects, the things I find are of appropriate application are:
