Man’s every day is full of all sorts of activities – particularly work. For most of the societies in the world, people work for more than 9 hours a day and 5 days a week. And in such lifestyle, everybody needs time to rest and have pleasure for themselves. This may be done at home, but it is more relaxing if one should spent more time in a certain resort – away from the life of waking too early for work and coming home tired.
Another form of is town resorts in some places in provinces. This is very common in Asia – particularly in the Philippines. Towns and provinces, which are maintained by the government to keep its ancestral forms, serve as a means of relaxation for some. Distinct forms of transportation (like horse-drawn carts); natural spots (like waterfalls, rainforests, caves and mountains); historical places (like figures of past wars and public events); and other antiques give rest and pleasure for most of the visitors. But the catchiest thing in this form of resort is the natural environment. In fact, many people view mountain-climbing and roaming in forests as their way of relaxation even if that would give them a certain physical weary. In terms of natural spots, unlike some “self-contained” resorts, these large resorts have great advantage since all its management have to do is simply take care of the natural environment and the nature will beautifully nourish by itself – attracting more people to it.
Moreover, the most common form of resorts is beach or coastal resorts. This includes a range of health and leisure functions (Borsay and Valton 3). Bathing in beaches is a very different experience from bathing in our own comfort rooms at home. The sense of nature – the breeze and water – in beach resorts gives such ease in our bodies and minds. The lodgings provided in these resorts are the perfect place for one to lie down and take the cold and fresh air coming from the sea. Beach resorts also serves as a perfect place for recreation. People like to play in the sand and even on water. In fact, beach resorts today offer boating experiences. Visitors are privileged to go farther into the sea, and in some great beach resorts like in Maldives and other coastal parts of the United States they are able to look at the coral reefs and fishes deep in the water. For some beach resorts, they allow people to have scuba diving, which is another great experience for anyone. Moreover, beach resorts also give rest in terms of health. Life in urban societies does not give physical and psychological stress to the people only through work but also through its environment. The presence of many vehicles and factories emitting smoke, and other industrial sectors producing chemicals into the natural environment greatly affects a person’s body. Beach resorts serves not only as a means of leisure for many but also a means of nourishing their bodies. In relation to this, another type of resort is swimming pools. Of course, they also offer visitors the privilege to swim, [for some] to have fun in slides, to have lodging through cottages – which allows them to have party celebrations and other activities. Although beach resorts are better than swimming pool resorts, pools are worth visiting.
