Synopsis A
I agree with some parts of Synopsis A that refers to a chain of command being created to ensure a more systematic management of the Band of Merrymen. However, I believe that the solution does not provide specifics as to how revenues can be collected. I believe that it would be best to place leaders nearby the towns so that they can be easily identified by the wealthy, which will then lead them to avoid the areas where they know that the band’s leaders are located. I think that the solution is incomplete without mentioning how the band is supposed to collect revenue without taxing the poor and confiscating wealthy persons’ goods without them knowing that they are being watched by Robin Hood’s men. In addition, the solution provided does not mention anything about solving the disciplinary problems of the band. I am of the opinion that the men’s discipline needs to be improved so that they can become more vigilant. Additionally, the solution does not include a strategy for defeating the Sheriff by getting rid of Prince John. It should be borne in mind that Robin cannot defeat the Sheriff without defeating Prince John, who is his most powerful ally.
Synopsis B
I like the solutions provided in this synopsis. I agree with the section of the synopsis that mentions that better training, better recruitment practices, the implementation of supervisory and management roles, democracy, and disciplinary action. I liked the section of the synopsis that mentions that Robin needed to allow more democracy while leading his band of men. He could have allowed himself to be surrounded by advisors that he could be counseled as to how to deal with a growing group of men. On the other hand, I do not like the fact that the synopsis did not include the point that Robin had to defeat the Sheriff and Prince John, and attempt to put King Richard back into power. There should be some indication that Robin’s band was primarily created to defeat the Sheriff. However, this cannot be done if Prince John is not gotten rid of. Furthermore, there was no mention as to how Robin is to increase and/or better manage his revenues that he already has. Additionally, the synopsis did not mention any reaction that Robin and the band of merry men could have as a result of implementing the solutions presented.
Synopsis C
I agree with the synopsis that Robin needed to gain more control over his growing band of men. I also liked that the synopsis included that communication should have been improved between the leaders and the rest of the band, goals needed to be identified, and that more disciplinary action should have been taken. Nevertheless, I disagree with the point made by the synopsis that Robin should have placed leaders to give orders to the rest of the band. This is because Robin already had lieutenants who were given specific tasks. Possibly, Robin could have included managers and supervisors to further expand the leadership and create a chain of command. I did not like that the synopsis did not include the fact that the Sheriff and Prince John needed to be defeated. Robin created the band to overthrow the Sheriff. However, the case study shows that this cannot be done if Prince John is not gotten rid of by Robin and King Richard placed back on the throne. Furthermore, the synopsis did not provide any solutions for managing and/or increasing the band’s revenues. Lastly, the synopsis did not include any information regarding the reaction that Robin Hood will receive if he implemented the solutions presented in the synopsis.
Synopsis D
I agree with the synopsis that Robin Hood needs to have proper control over his band. Additionally, I agree that Robin Hood should have some members kicked out since this would ensure that the band’s revenues will not continue to be depleted. Furthermore, there needs to be varying levels of leadership to properly control such a large group of men. Additionally, I like that the synopsis includes a reaction of the solutions are implemented. However, I disagree that the group should be disbanded altogether, especially if Robin has not achieved his goal of overthrowing the Sheriff and getting rid of Prince John. It is important that Robin achieve his goal so that it would not appear as if his efforts and time were wasted. In addition, there was no mention as to how Robin is to improve the training of the men, and increase the band’s revenues.
