When a patient walks through the doors of a hospital along with his or her dear ones, it is the responsibility of the healthcare organization to see that the needs of the patient are taken good care of. Hiring the technically competent healthcare professionals to take up deeper roles would make the experience of patients in healthcare organizations quite memorable (Beaulieu-Volk, 2014). From the perspective of the patients, caring healthcare professionals heal them and in some cases give them a new lease of life. On the other hand, a nursing professional develops her career by providing the best care to the patients under her care. More importantly, the healthcare organization can benefit a great deal by recruiting and retaining the right employees.
In light of health care industry facing severe shortage of qualified nurse professionals and the demand for quality care ever on the rise, it is important that healthcare institutions welcome onboard the right professionals who are able to deliver quality patient care. Current shortage of qualified healthcare professionals is driven by aging of the present generation of nurse professionals, lack of adequate educational infrastructures, and the availability of more number of aged and sick to be cared for (The benefits of hiring international healthcare workers, 2013). These challenges can be overcome not only through hiring the right employees but through nurturing and retaining them for a longer period of time. Only the right nursing professionals are able to give value based medical care for which patients and their family members continue to crave. Thus, hiring the right professional serves three important purposes: first and foremost, they give impeccable patient service; secondly, a fine workplace would sharpen their skills and develop the career of the professionals; last but not the least, healthcare organizations thrive by hiring and retaining the right employees.
