Riordan Manufacturing Inc. outsource most of its function. It uses separate systems for all of its departments that increase the cost of operations.
The IT and security system of the Riordan Manufacturing is outdated as each department maintains its system and files. There is no centralized system so chances of errors increases and affect the effectiveness.
Inventory management system of the organization is also obsolete. It uses basic computer programs and paper charts to manage inventory. The staff requires to manually filling up record of the raw material or orders received, raw material usage, and other details related to the final product. This record is then fed into the basic database manually by the inventory clerk. The system does not provide any notifications about the current stock in hand. Therefore, it may result in over or under purchasing of raw material.

The systems require web-based centralized system that could be accessed by users of all departments. Latest inventory management software needs to be installed. Barcodes technology needs to be installed to aid automation. Eliminate manual processes and introduce automation. It will reduce error rate, increase productivity, reduction of costs and ensure accuracy.
Slide 4
The new inventory management system will provide user-friendly interface system that will help users to easily access the records and update them. Users will be able to use handheld devices to track the shipping and receiving of orders. The managers can check on-hand stock using the barcode technology. Latest computer systems and software will be installed to add automation and effectiveness to the organization operations and thus compete in the global market.

Outsourced operations will be discontinued, and organization will get complete control over all warehouse operations. It will help in lowering the costs of operations and also add or remove features according to the organization requirements. By installing an automatic system, there will be fewer errors, better cycling time and simplified reports could be generated. The FlexNet software would also provide Android and iOS services for the handheld devices to access orders information from anywhere.
Slide 6
According to the new inventory system process, the order is first received through the client, then it will be imputed in the FlexNet Warehouse System. The customer order will be forwarded to the supplier electronically. The supplier will respond back by means of the same medium about the quantity of raw material and delivery time. Two types of bar codes are attached with the raw material order by the supplier. One contains product information and the other contains shipping information. Then raw material will be received at the plants. The supervisor at the Riordan can scan the barcodes to get the order related information. Bar code scanner will be used to enter and collect information of the barcode. The amount of raw material and process used during manufacturing will be entered into the inventory system by means of handheld device or workstation. When the final product is manufactured, it is barcoded, scanned automatically, and then entered into the inventory system. After the manufacturing process is completed, sales department enter orders into customer shipping and billing system. Orders are then forwarded to FlexNet Warehouse for further procedure.
