Concerns were followed in the design of the security concerns. The need for the use of the environment in the design of security was followed. The building is safe with these principles followed.
Discussion
There are some design principles which were not followed in the design of the building. The natural surveillance was not followed. This is not entirely the case because the isolated areas and routes have been designed so that there is natural surveillance. In areas which do not have natural surveillance, there is the provision of panic alarms, telephone and attendants. With the renovation being prepared there will be added activity in the building that will be an assurance that the area will be secured. The area is programmed for more events. The access control is well signed so there are many areas of entry which have been designed in the building to prevent unsolicited entry to the building.
Summary
The area has been designed to ensure security. There is concern that the building has followed the structure of CPTED. With the renovation that will be undertaken, there will be more security improvement using the environment.
