New Beginnings Community Food Pantry has been assisting the local community for the last 40 years. The main functions of food pantries include sharing food with community members on a monthly basis. Proper management as well as community support is invaluable. Donations and volunteers are essential for success.
The food pantry is in need of a new IT system to help monitor activity. In an organization such as this one, it is important because it insures that all rules and protocols are followed and keeps track of funding as well as data on those that participate in the program. The system requirements for an organization like New Beginnings would include network services, application server, and a file server (“management help”, 2012). In order to update the IT system, new fundraising techniques need to be implemented. New Beginnings should look for funding from a variety of sources. Diverse funding heightens the chance of reaching their goal and protects against cut backs. New Beginnings should look into setting up personal meetings and look for applicable grants. New Beginnings should reach out for public support through direct mail, collections at services or events, e-mail requests, phone solicitations, and fundraising events. The more methods that New Beginnings attempts the more likely they will reach their goal of obtaining the new IT system.
Overall, with proper management and a high quality IT system New Beginnings Food Pantry can operate smoothly and efficiently while helping members of the community. I would recommend that New Beginnings start looking for grants and then expand for there. Both community and federal support are available for these types of programs.
