Literature is an artwork which includes drama, fiction and essays among others whose work can be either the truth or imaginative. Literature writing is intended at making human being analyze the message, relate it with what the writer is talking about before making any judgment or conclusion. Its work is to pass a message in a literally manner in the society through making the human kind think more critically. Literature has the ability to transform the reader from the human perspective and take him/her beyond the mundane of imaginative world of tale, animation or the waters, change the reader’s mood, transform the thoughts with a clear intention of communicating a message concerning that which is involved.
In my recent experience in a film, I wanted to explore the work of literature out of an acted drama and I bought a film entitled ‘jealousy’. After watching this film, I realized that literature can make a reader to take a position concerning what the writer is writing, or acting about or an issue at study; this is true because of my encounters in this film on jealousy, which had two characters, had a tragedy between two friends who were almost of same age who had been friends for a long period of time. Of the two one was in power and the other one wanted to maliciously take power from his friend. As a matter of fact, this was a result of jealousy since one of the friends was not happy to be ruled over and he therefore conspired to kill the other one in power a means of getting that position of leadership. I saw how human being can take a lions heart to plan and ‘hunt’ his fellow human being through killing just to get power. The drama unfolded with a gang of people receiving just a few cash with a target of performing that duty of snatching life out of the then leader. Out of the art of drama, the actors put me in an imaginative mood, a freezing moment and took me to a world of death. I imagined on how life can be a risk of earning a living only to realize that this was all about the work of literature since no harm was committed as the film came to an end.
The figurative part of literature can make the reader to enjoy reading more books thus increasing the level of literacy and knowledge. Through tales and the evolution of history for a given society, literature plays an educative role to the reader concerning the morals and values of a society and the expectations of that society to the reader thus compelling for change in character. It helps in passing information from generation to generation in a manner that only the intended receiver gets the message. Therefore literature can take the reader to a world of imaginations by conditioning the mood depending on what is being read. It transforms the reader from his/her world to a world of tales, imaginations and gives a heart that is capable of absorbing what is experienced from the context that is being read.
