Part One: What did you like about the (topic)?
In this book, the most interesting thing to me is the spirit of togetherness which was created by the Jackson, the coach. They was he was able to change the minds and hearts of his players while he coached them (Bradley, Delahanty & Jackson 2006). He was able to make each one of them have surrender their pride and negativity and become positive in all aspects. I admire Jackson’s power to change his players into one beautiful group that work with same aim and goal, where they are always able to come out victoriously without having to insert a lot of energy. The way the players go about their business inside the field is just natural, and they have no hard feelings for their counterparts anytime they are playing. They play with maximum etiquette and are not in any hurry to win, something which is not common but attractive. The book is quite interesting and it takes my mind to think that I or anybody else could try this kind of technique anywhere else apart from the field.
What struck you as interesting?
The most interesting thing about this book is how the group relates together. They operate like a family and everything is done with a lot of togetherness. As you read the book, your realize that the team is just like one happy family who love each other and would do anything to give their club and team good achievements and success. Their other aim is to be at peace and maintain friendship with their opposing teams. They also do everything with God coming first and that is where most of their success comes from as the coach Jackson is a Christian. It interests me he has also instilled or introduced some Christian qualities in some of his team members successfully.
Why did the (topic) stimulate positive emotion?
The most stimulating thing is this book is the way the team has became the heroes of the year. The simple manner in which they carry themselves, and the unique way of going about their business in the field and outside the field has made them heroes of the year. Their simplicity and calmness in the field would make anyone think they are scared, but they eventually come out victorious (Bradley, Delahanty & Jackson 2006). People are used to watching rough games full of fights and injuries but this is not the case for the Chicago Bulls.
Part Two: What did you not like about the (topic)?
What I did not like about this topic is the part where the team could end up in the field with a lesser number of players; (Bradley, Delahanty & Jackson 2006) this is something that could scare any fun out there. I did not like the way this team kept losing their good players to injuries, other teams or when they had to resign. There are times when players are in the process of preparing for a game and they one of the members is not available. This is very discouraging and every part I read about an unavailable player killed my spirits like I knew the team could lose for that reason.
Why did the (topic) stimulate negative emotion?
The reasons for negative emotions on this topic is the fact that many players can leave the team after so much effort by the coach to train and coach them. This is something that can even discourage the couch and change his attitude from much willing person to one who will just train for the sake of fulfilling his job (Bradley, Delahanty & Jackson 2006). Jackson is portrayed in this story as someone who is doing his job to benefit everyone including the funs and the opposing teams, but as he keeps loosing players his hard work does not seem to take him anywhere. This can cause negative emotions for him as the coach.
Part Three: What did you learn? Summarize your major take-aways and intellectual sound bites.
This topic has given me really good lessons, because through it I have learnt that any willing person can change to anything. This team of Chicago Bulls is team that is made of people from different backgrounds, skin color and even ethnic backgrounds, the spirituality that has formed in them is amazing. They are now a family who do things with the aim of only positivity, and this has taught me that nothing is impossible. I have also learnt that what other people do in the feel including fighting are things that come out of ignorance and victory can never be obtained from such through such behaviors (Bradley, Delahanty & Jackson 2006). That it is important to learn and be informed that doing the right thing is not foolishness and it bares good fruits. This book has a powerful message and it has the ability to change the previous thoughts of many people. This topic teaches that working together to achieve success and victory is very possible with just the use of spirituality, togetherness and positivity. And that this is not possible only on sports but in any other field such as company business and cooperate companies and many others.
Conclusion
This topic has the power to enhance anybody’s life despite anyone’s previous perceptions towards basket ball and other sports; I personally appreciate it so much.
