Please accept my sincere apology for failing to show up for class for the last two weeks. I understand that my actions have inadvertently led me to miss a lot of the course content.
I would however like to ask for an opportunity to explain myself. For the past few months, I have been having a persistent niggling pain in my left knee which I have not given much attention to. Last week, I started experiencing excruciating pain in the knee and I decided to go to the hospital for a checkup. The medical physician conducted an MRI scan on the knee and the results showed that the anterior cruciate ligament was ruptured. The only way to fix the problem was through a surgical operation. The knee was really causing me problems and I therefore agreed to go ahead with the operation which went on without a hitch.
The only setback was that I was unable to walk and as such, the doctor recommended that I stay in bed to give my knee time to recuperate. It is due this that I have therefore been unable to attend classes.
I would like to assure you that I am a very commited student and the fact that I have been forced to miss classes pains me much. I have always admired your uttermost dedication to the class and your zero tolerance on non attendance of classes by students. I have however been using a classmate’s notes to keep with the lectures.
I know that you are obliged to the University’s regulations which require you to dismiss students from a class if they miss a considerable number of lectures. It was never my intention to miss lectures on purpose and it is for this reason that I am kindly asking you to let me continue with your class. I am well driven by the desire to excel in medicine and will put in double efforts to catch up on the two weeks of study I have lost.
