Environment is the physical and biological features that are around the ecosystem of an individual and it forms the basis of human survival. As a result, it becomes an important aspect for the survival of human beings. It is from that background that public awareness of the environment is emphasized the entire world with Saudi Arabia not being an exception. They have over the years turned to be more cautious about the environmental issues that come along with the various developments that the country undertakes (Ham, Brekhus & Madden, 2004).
There are various goals and objectives that can be attributed to the public awareness in the country of Saudi Arabia. One of the main objectives for the awareness is the need for not only preservation, but also for the protection, and improvement of the environment. Bearing in mind that they are a tourist destination country, the need for maintaining their environment becomes more imperative (Jeffreys & Oxford Business Group, 2011). The effects of climate change as well explains the need for the environmental preservation bearing in mind that the changes in climate will accelerate the climate changes while hindering their development increasing their vulnerabilities as well.
There are various components that would be adapted in the process of elaborating the aspects of public environment. Education programs is one of the component, and it involves the inclusion of environmental studies within the school curriculum from where the students would be shown the importance of preservation and protection of the environment (Walker, 2010). Public participation is an additional component and it is imperative bearing in mind that without their willing participation, the environment would not be kept clean nor will it be protected. Formulation and enforcement of policies and procedures that are geared towards the protection of the environment while raising awareness would be of importance. The documentation and publication of environmental information to the general public would be an important component that would result to increased public awareness (Fridell, 2005). Equally, having a body that enforces the laws, standards, and regulations would be a crucial component towards the attainment and realization of environmental public awareness.
