Reading the chapters, I realize that just like Jesus was portrayed differently through the gospels, a person’s life is viewed differently by people. There is a specific trait or character that a person will appreciate in a person, which may be quite different from what the other may appreciate. This will depend on the occasion or place that such impact was done. What I may know about a particular person may be quite different from what somebody else knows. This hence implies that we should not be quick to judge a person basing on what we have simply been told or part of what we have heard. There is however, a generalised testimony that will draw us to a person basing on what other people say about them.
The four gospels give an account of the life of Jesus basing on what the authors heard about him or the experiences they heard. The similarity in their message give us an overall view of who Jesus was yet also tells us on the varied understanding that the authors had. Through the reading, I am able to learn how to judge people not only on what I know about them but also what I have heard about them. A person will always testify according to what they know and the picture that was displayed to them. In as much as some people will choose to rely on secondary sources of information, others simply want to have a firsthand experience for them to testify. All this is relevant in helping analyse a situation as well as giving an account.
Readings from chapters four, five and six, I learn a lot about the role of an individual in fulfilling a certain purpose. Jesus came to the earth to fulfil a certain purpose and once it was fulfilled, he went back to the father. This has a lot of significance in our lives where God has called each one of us to accomplish a certain assignment. The assignments are so unique that God has equipped us with the resources needed. In the life of Jesus, God ordained different people around him just to help him accomplish his assignments. Some did it in a positive way while others in a seemingly negative manner. Overall, the purposes of God were accomplished through them.
God brings people around us to push us to our destiny as well as help us accomplish His purpose. We therefore need to realise that everything that happens around us is for a reason and a purpose. Once we realise our place in the kingdom, there will be no competition or any ill feeling amongst us about each other. We shall work together as a unit as we also aspire to impact others in a positive way. Many times we also gamble about what we feel is not right not realising that it is simply one of the means through which God is using to accomplish his will in us. Learning to embrace every situation and leaning on God’s strength will help us understand his purpose better. There is also a need to know and understand that there is nothing that happens in our lives that catches God by surprise, he has ordained everything and will ultimately work it out for our own good.
