Part 1
Many of us have this thought that true love and deep emotional relationships only exist in television soap opera dramas, of which is entirely not true at all. True love does exist in real life situation among the few that are blessed to the point of having to enjoy it. There was this young couple that used to be blessed such that they could give out their life for each other if need be without hesitating even a second. The couple used to live country called Bama that was by that time ruled by a tyrant regime of President Daniel and his ruthless soldiers. Everybody was always expected to praise the president good ruling and the regime despite the fact that the citizens were sufferings a lot under his brutal, despotic rule. The regime made clue laws and to make it worse showed no mercy to anyone who dared to rebel.
No one dares to say a word against the government and its laws. Now it happened that, one of the couple by the name of David was unfortunately overheard by the soldiers speaking with his friend of the brutal act committed by the government. They were immediately arrested but in the process his friend managed to escape unhurt. He was brought to high court whose rulings were obviously interfered with, by the power in the government. He was accused of not approving the laws of the land and being a rebel and immediately the court sentenced him to brutal death
Her fiancée Jane could not believe the shocking new when they reached her. She immediately rushed to the prison where David was detained waiting for his execution day that was due in a week .The poor thing was so much heartbroken. She politely asked the guard to let her speak to the love of her life even if it was for the last time. “My love, how terrible to find you here, I wish there is anything I can do to save you.” She said as her cry and weak voice portrayed the agony she felt deep in her heart. David was for a moment since his arrest joyous for seeing her. He asked her to pass the terrible news to her ill mother in the village that was miles away and give her some money in his bank account, to take care of herself in her remaining days on this earth.
When Jane left, she could not take it any more after seeing how much her fiancée is suffering thinking of her poor mother in the village. She decided to exhaust all possible means to see if she can speak to the president and beg for his mercy to grant presidential pardon to David. Tirelessly due to the love she felt for David she tried as much possible and not for a moment she ever lost hope, and after several attempts, her prayers were finally answered, and she managed to speak to the president. The president was so amazed by the love Jane had for David, since she was willing to do anything as long as David was not to die. He had never seen something like this before. However due to his ruthless heart he did not give in to Jane request, he still considered David to be a traitor, whose only remedy was to be eliminated so as to be example to another.
The president decided to put in to test this love between the two lover birds. He asked for the release of David for a week while Jane was arrested until David was back, also if she fails the execution was to take place as scheduled and would not be delayed even for a minute. David was so much amazed with what Jane had done for her and the great love she had demonstrated that she had for him. When he reached home he made sure that he has arranged all his business affairs so that her mother could live comfortably for the rest of her years. Carefully he explained to her the situation at hand and what await him. He did all this with due care so as not to cause panic to the already aged woman and whose heartbeat cannot take more of sudden bad news, especially related to his son's death or else she too turn into a corpse due to build pressure if not stroke. After five days she hugged and embraced her mother as he goes back to face her destiny and at the same time remove the rope already in her fiancé head waiting to be tightened and take the soul away.
On her way back, bad luck struck him when he was involved in a terrible road accident in which he managed to survive with minor injuries only to wake up in a hospital bed the following day, the day still set for his execution which is due in an hour. Bye, now Jane hands were already tied behind her back in the public square where execution used to take place. She was hoping for David not to show up since she could not bear to see him being hanged, and therefore to her she would rather take this cup on his behalf. The president for the very first time was in attendance to witness David reciprocating the great love Jane had for her, but to his shock his hope was fading away as time passed since David was nowhere to be seen. All he was not aware of is that David was struggling to get into his feet and desperately try to hurry to reach the city in time to take his rightful place.
Just as the rope in Jane’s head starts to be lifted by the merciless solider, the crowd's voices are heard shouting “no, no David is already here.” everybody turns to look at the entrance gate. Indeed David was already there looking so weak and dizzy. The rope is lowed as another soldier run to take David and bring him at the square, but the president does intervene when he rises up and ask his soldier let him go. He proceeds to say that he had never seen such faith and love such loyalty between the couple, he says despite that may say he is cruel and hash he cannot kill such a man that has proved such strong love for her future wife since it would be the same as killing both. The crowd roars in approval while David and Jane run toward each other to celebrate by embracing and kissing as they cry due to happiness.
Part 2
In this our love story we have borrowed from Augustine and Dante several important themes to demonstrate the nature of mankind. For instance, one can see that just like in their story the powerful men in the society use violent ways to get what they wintry frightening people like the president is doing. In the story, one can also see that God takes care of his own people, just like in Augustine and Dante’s story where he is showing that God is the provider. We have borrowed this when we also show how God answers Jane’s prayer when she convinces the president and when finally David’s death sentence is aborted in the very last minute (Augustine, and Sheed, 78). It shows the faith Jane had just like Augustine when he believes his heart cannot rest in Rome but only in God’s hands
Also Dante’s story we have borrowed the acts of turn the story that begins with sad mood but lastly have a happy ending where every single character that had miseries in the beginning lastly has joyful moments since he achieves his or her goals (Gage and Diego, 102). Through the story we come to understand how different author demonstrates their inner emotional feeling through the characters they chose to create in their stories that they write, hence different authors have different ways of passing similar messages. It is through borrowing just like we have done, that brings these Authors and their ideal together for the reader to easily understand them and get the hidden message in their story (Gage and Diego, 58).
