Advertising Age one the leading and premier forum for news, information and intelligence sharing for the marketing and media community, organized a digital conference ‘Making Social Commerce Stick’, with the subject matter being to discuss the reluctance of the consumers and merchants to get on board on buying platform through social platforms.
The participating panelists were from Warby Parker, Stripe and Pinterest (Pasquarelli, 2016).
The focus of discussion was the lack of acceptance of the online payments on their portals primarily by the retailers, since it meant losing control of the process and most of the retailers have their own commerce app, however, slowly and gradually some brands are understanding the significance of the process, with Pinterest and Stripe providing demos to allay the concerns of the retailers in relation to the seamless buying process with these platforms.
The inventory management was also a topic of conversation, since, both retailers and the general public are getting into the concept, it is imperative that stock check is done constantly so that there are no issues at the checkout process.
The retailers need to connect with the buying platforms and any new technology that can have an impact on the consumers connect for buying a service or a product, in this age of globalization, social media platforms are the future and to be able to start the process at this nascent stage will definitely give a head start to retailers and also save time for consumers besides, the convenience of the transaction process in an effective manner.
The social commerce has been reinventing the process year after year and a research showcase US Digital retailers have been adopting Buy Buttons on email, Facebook, Google, Instagram to name a few besides Twitter and Pinterest to entice mobile users to buy on the spot (eMarketer, 2015).
