Ever since I was little, I have had the passion for reading and writing, which expresses adamant desire to read compelling books. In case I find a book, which I cannot keep down, I have had the tendency to find other books by the same author with the perception of reading for hours. From reading books and novels, I have had the opportunity to enhance my understanding of diverse issues and concepts such as settings and characterizations. One of the writers with the greatest influence on the development of my reading and writing passion is Ernest Hemingway.
Secondly, Ernest Hemingway has had a massive influence on my development of understanding, reading, and writing diverse literacy concepts and content. Hemingway’s perceptions and presentations of war prove to be disturbing and fascinating at the same time. I find Hemingway’s approach to this subject appalling through adoption and implementation of stylistic devices, which enable him to have a romantic perception regarding the young men dying in droves, as well as the tearing of the society into parts. In the development of his classic, war novel, Farewell to Arms, Hemingway renders a beautiful novel, which did take me by surprise on the approach by a man who had experienced the front lines during the First World War. Besides, Hemingway uses ‘The Sun also Rises’ to express his technique of glorifying tragic after-effects of the conflict in equal measure of condemning such acts. Another concept, which I have had to take from Hemingway’s literature components, is the tendency to read what is available when it is time to work again. The approach is vital in maintaining continuity, which is one of the most critical elements of writing and reading.

From this perspective, I have focused on using the approach by Hemingway to consider a close observation of concepts and issues in life to generate good writing pieces. In this context, the objective is to not only watch and listen closely to the external event but to consider noticing any emotion the events stir in me, hence, the platform to trace the source of emotion in the development of quality stories. This approach is evident in the presentation of his work Death in the Afternoon, which enables the readers to experience or feel the same emotion.

In the course of improving my reading and writing skills, I have focused on reading and analyzing diverse, fascinating novels and pieces of literature, majorly by Hemingway, thus, the opportunity to gain adequate knowledge of the development of settings and characters in fiction stories.
