Dear team, I appreciate the effort and time that you have given to work in our company. Your work is a valuable contribution to our common cause, and I am proud to be working with such devoted people like you side by side. May I kindly draw your attention that I was disapointed to realize that some of you have resorted to the use of mobile phones at our monthly meetings devoted to responses to urgent questions, discussing company agenda, developing new ideas. I want to stress out that such meeting are neccessary for all of us since they are directed towards improving our results. In connection with this situation, I have to introduce some rules that will address the use of mobile phones on these meetings and help us be more concentrated on the cause we are working on. I recognize that we are all humans, and the use of mobile phones is an integral part of our daily life, for that reason I tried to make these rules as loyal as possible. Adherence to these list of rules of mobile etiquette will be useful to you in daily life and allow you not only to avoid embarrassing moments but look decent in any situation. I would highly appreciate and encourage you to use the new guidelines. These Mobile Etiquette Rules come into force from the moment when they are placed on the announcement board.
Mobile Etiquette Rules
Using the phone in a meeting where everyone can hear you is showing unethical and disrespectful attitude towards your colleagues. Please do not scroll through your social networks, do not play games etc. Use your phone only to take urgent calls.
It is a good tone to turn off you phone and rely on the voice mail, when entering a meeting.
Remember that the majority of incoming calls can wait till the meeting is over.
If you are using a mobile phone at a meeting, make sure that your phone is in silent mode or vibrate mode.
If you need to take a call, ask to go out and answer it where no one will disturb your conversation.
If your phone interlocutor has difficulty hearing you, raising your voice will not help him to hear you. Try to call back later.
If you are forced to take an emergency call, make sure that you do not disturb others.
Using a soft pleasant music on the tone will smooth the effect of the ringing phone, forgotten to transfer to silent mode.
If you have to use your phone, do it so that no one noticed. Personally, I have my eyes even at the back of my head.
If your conversation has personal nature, please make sure it remains so.
Sensitivity to other peoples' needs and comforts is a sign of good character.
In order to make it clear how it feels when a person does not hear you when you are talking to him, pay attention to those who are talking on the phone, when you are trying to talk to him.
I want to stress out that many people are controlled with thousands of tasks simultaneously, but it does not help when the primary concern is the concentration of attention on an important issue.
All comments and suggestions related to the use of mobile devices will be heard, considered and taken into account at the next meeting. Thank you for your attention.
