It is evident that the world is experiencing rapid developments due to technology nowadays. However, these developments come with a price to pay. Because of the rapid industrialization of the world, the demand for energy supply is also continuously rising. This increase in the demand for energy have resulted to implications to health and the environment. (Singh, Jain, & Kumar). This paper will likewise discuss what the United States should consider with regards to the environment.
According to the International Energy Agency, in the past six years, significant changes have been made in the energy policy framework of the United States. In 2013, oil remained to be the country’s major energy source, covering 36 percent of the total primary energy supply (American Geosciences Institute). The president has introduced several projects the past six years to address this issue, however, there are more policies that the country should consider (The White House).
What the country needs right now are “cleaner” sources of energy. It is necessary to utilize the technology that the country currently has to find more environment-friendly sources of energy. This way, the rising demands for energy can be met without having the need to sacrifice the environment. This would not only lessen the expenses that of the production of current sources of energy in the country, but also it will help on lessening the hazards that other energy sources like coal could emit in the atmosphere. It is of utmost importance to consider the state of the environment today, before the further destruction of it. It is proper that the country take their chances into trying to acquire cleaner energy despite the possible high costs of development and research.
