Leadership
Crime scene related fields require an individual with exceptional leadership abilities since it involves working as a team. My leadership skills are my strength. I have shown my leadership skills in the past through leading a team of students to solve simple group tasks in class and outside the class. My future employer can find my leadership skills very valuable since every organization requires employees who can be able to manage time and other resources within the organization wisely. As a good leader, I am a good manager as well.
Decision Making
Making a quick and wise decision in the crime scene field is the first and foremost step to understanding who the suspect may be. I am a good decision maker and have shown this strength in many occasions such as choosing my major. My employer will find my decision-making skills important since I will help the organization in coming up with quicker solutions to challenges.
Interpersonal Skills
How one relates to the rest in a team in terms of interpersonal relationship skills determines whether the team will be able to abate criminal activities or not. My interpersonal skills are my strengths. I show these skills both at home, in school and places I have worked. So far I have never got into trouble with the police, friends or family. My interpersonal skills will be critical for my future employer since he or she will not have to spare some time to resolve conflicts.
Decisiveness
Winning an argument through providing reliable evidence shows how much decisive an individual is. In a crime scene, there are always different theories of how a crime was conducted. It needs someone with decisive wits to relegate some of the theories and adapt the possible one. My decisive nature is unquestionable. I have lived a life where I had to choose from different options. My decisive ability will be an additional strength not only to me but also to my future employer. They will have a force to reckon; one which will lead to higher productivity among other employees.
Perception and Analysis
Perception requires the use of all the five sensory organs. The way we percept to events define what analysis and decisions we draw. These are important skills that are required in crime scene field that I, unfortunately, weak in. I will ensure that I improve on these skills through taking different tests to improve and learn from others on how they improved their perception and analysis skills. I am sure that these are some of the skills that my future employer will find necessary for me to be a good investigator.
Organization and planning
Without proper planning and organization, one can never make a proper conclusion on the cause of a crime. I am a good leader and manager at the same time. I gained these titles since I believed in my organizational ad planning abilities. I have portrayed my planning skills in different areas including managing my finances. No employer wants to do a cross-check on tasks assigned; therefore, the employer will find my organizational and planning skills useful.
Adaptability
Robustness and being able to adapt to the changing situation is becoming necessary skills for anyone in any field. I change as the environment demands. I have faced different challenges in life that required some adaptability skills or else failure was eminent. For instance, I was not used to working in a culturally diverse team. However, with the changing face of the communities today, I adapted to cultural diversity and am now able to work with people from all over the world. My employer will find these skills important since he or she will not have to worry about sending me to a new place to conduct an investigation.
Oral Communication
Unless we speak it, no one will understand it. I believe in my communication skills. English is my first language and speaks it with lesser difficulty. Apart from English, I am a fluent speaker of French. I believe my employer will be happy to hear that I can represent a team in making a presentation on the behalf of the organization.
Written Communication
Apart from my exceptional oral communication skills, I am good in presenting my work in a written form. For a long time, I have presented my class work in a written form. I once won a writing competition in the elementary school and was motivated to do even better. My employer will find these skills important since he or she will not fear about delayed reports and memos.
Professionalism
Professionalism is not taught, it is gained through experience. At the moment I cannot say that this is my strength since I have not yet had enough. However, through practices, I am sure I will be able to be a professional. My employer will want to have an employee with higher professionalism to avoid mistakes and most importantly, lawsuits.
