Virginia museum of fine arts organized an exhibition that began on the 23rd of January to 5th of June in memory of Loise Cochrane, a woman who had dedicated her services for the better part of the last forty years into forging a significant relationship with the museum. The Floral Jubilee that was characterized by the exhibition of twenty-five works served as a commemoration of her works as it served to explore various forms of art she had done. The show featured various kinds of blooms comprising of irises and sunflowers with a special type of mixed bouquet that Cochrane was to celebrate during her 100th anniversary.
The exhibition was open and free to the public as people from different parts of the country attended even though I only attended the final day in which not so many people were present. What caught my eye when I first stepped into the exhibition room at the museum was the neat arrangement of the twenty-five pieces of art. I could not help but pose strategically in a manner that I could view all the pieces at once, as they looked tremendous as at a distance. One of the outstanding pieces was an art on vase with pink Rosses that Cochrane had completed in year 2015 which is depicted below:
The above flower stood out as compared to the others due to the absence of a bright color that most people relish, but offers a deeper meaning that anyone can be able to see with the naked eye . The pink roses appears to have faded to white which makes the flower more astonishing considering that the light green background offers a better illumination. The flowers appear to be in a magnificent, enthusiastic bloom, their curled forms depicted by the ribbons of paint behind them in addition to the surface feeling more live as a result of the artists touch.
The other piece of art that also appear outstanding from the rest was the Oriental Poppies whose picture is shown below:
The manner in which the artist used the colors made it glamour from a distance in addition to the size of the flower itself as she decided to make it bigger as compared to the real or original one, which surprised many people. The view of the sleek red and the orange flower petals that appear bursting on the background almost five feet wide offer an exuberant view that cannot be compared to anything. One positive aspect of the art is the absence of any distraction as that artist used the entire space to bring out her artistic skills and even excluding the background (Sircello, 2015). I simple words, the art can be described as a wide photo that is pulling one’s eye into the darker heart of the flowers based on the supremacy of the zooming aspect and color.
In conclusion, the event acted as an eye opener which made me appreciate what art could offer as I saw the possibility of one’s day being brightened by a mare glance at a beautiful piece of art. After the event, I felt the need of visiting more exhibitions just to appreciate the brilliance and creativity portrayed by such artists. In general, the event stood out among the many that I have ever attended as I was able to interact with others present and to share what we felt by looking at the various pieces of art that were being exhibited.
