In 1980 The Home Free Program started to help battered people escape and have a safe place to stay. The DV Shelter offered help with support from people who understood, and avenues that are needed to improve their lives. The shelter offered a safe home, people who worked to help offer legal advice and resources for custody, protection order, divorce, and other legal matters that may be needed. The shelter offered assistance for other resources for permanent housing, education, training, daycare, and clothing help. Certain help may be needed in treating depression, anxiety, stress, and other mental problems that may exist.
The mission is to keep families safe, and help put abusers behind bars, or get help they need. The programs is to give the victims time to heal, recover, and get on with their life. The shelter offering temporary housing can elevate the stress of finding a home and paying bills. The temporary homes let the people acquire skills to be able to survive on their own and have their own non-violent homes.
The program has proven very successful in helping many families escape a domestic situation and are given the resources to live a better life. It is a scary process but the victims are happier when they are away from the abuse and fear of everyday life. The shelter offers stability, and security for the victims.
The program was designed to help keep families and children safe. The program wanted to give people especially low income individuals an easy way to escape living in a terrified environment. These types of individuals may not work due to the controlling nature of the domestic relationship. The victim may need to learn skills to obtain and keep a job for maintain a home and life without fear. The reason more low income or poverty families seek help is because they do not have the resources, money, or family support to leave otherwise.
The domestic shelter offers many advocates who work towards helping domestic situations. These advocates have education, and knowledge of what a domestic violence individual may need and want. These people help and assist in those who are in emergency danger, or are needing information on how to leave. The advocates are not able to give legal advice because they are attorneys’ but can give leads to resources, and go with you for court proceedings.
The advocates can assist with resources to get medical coverage for health issues, and checkups for victims. The advocates can obtain access to housing, food, and transportation assistance for the families in need. The resources offered are very helpful for people who are in need of help.
The mission of the Domestic Violence Program offers great positive reinforcement for battered victims in America. They want to have a voice for people who were victims of domestic violence. They would like to get the word out that there is programs to help against violence, and people can get out. The option to live a life free of violence is possible and assistance is here to help.
The ability to get society aware of what domestic violence is, and how it can effect families. The media and news can guide the pipeline of marketing the program. The more people who are aware of the resources out there for violence, the more people who can help end the course of violence. The program is to help, assist, and educate the victims to give them the chance to raise their kids without fear and guilt.
The use of technology has made it easier for domestic violence victims to reach out for help. The internet had given the use of technology a chance to save lives. Victims can contact hotline phone number that is active 24 hours a day, and seven days a week. Victims can contact the shelter or a sisterly resource. The resources that are offered to a person in danger is a safe place to stay, parenting programs that will help parents handle children in non-violent manner and teaches how to talk to the children. The PADV helps with kids to be able to understand, communicate, and with others dealing with demotic violence. The kids can learn and play together as well. It is a way for kids to find support with other kids going through similar situations.
A program that is also available for domestic violence victims is a housing program for support to live on their own. The program gives victims financial assistance to find a home, get the utilities on, and send kids to daycare, job assistance, educational programs, and legal help. Victims can utilize these resource programs and obtain a better future free from harm.
The legal matters that domestic violence victims have access to his help in obtaining a Protection Order against the abuser. The legal help can also assist in the judicial cases, and filing documents for legal matters. There are many groups for women that offer support, advice, resources, and assist in having a life free of domestic violence.
Other resource programs that are affiliated to help domestic violent victims is the Department of Human Resources. They offer many programs for victims, and offer support and services for the victims to get their lives back. Services such as child support, food stamps, medical coverage, TANF, employment training, education, and job placement. Outreach coordinators help spread the word of the resources offered for victims. With the amount of resources to assist from plan A of leaving, to plan B of being free is available. The tools are provided to get you to your goal of being free of the domestic situation you were in. Victims can have freedom, security, and be happy. The best way to do this is educate the public with the program, and its services for people who may need it, or know someone who does. The resources are visible, and help is near for victims to get out.
The intervention programs help victims understand they are not to blame or at fault for the abuse. The intervention offers support, and assistance for a better life without being battered anymore. Resources are given for everything needed to start over fresh, and this is enticing to victims who have been waiting for that opportunity. Victims are offered choice, and a positive outlook on their future. This is a way of teaching them they do not have to go back. They can make it on their own, and this will also help build self-esteem and self-worth.
The program is evaluated at a basis of receiving Federal Funding. The people who are also contributing to the fund for these programs are wanting to see an evaluation of the results of their funding being used. The evaluations can determine the increase in funding, and growth within the program. If the evaluation shows the progress, and improvements the funding has made then this will show a positive outcome for the funding. IF the program finds that a services is not working as it should or is not very resourceful; it will be discontinued. Other programs are thought to help victims, and updating resource information is very useful for the victims.
“Evaluations are done on the goals that were given for the program” . The positive results of the goals, and helpful services that the program had offered was effective. Investors and funding will be more interested in funding a program that works, and is productive. The evaluations also encourages the severity of the services, and how well the benefits are working. IF they are not working then that services will need to be analyzed and fixed. The data can come from the people who use the services, and can give feedback as to the services less helpful.
The Domestic Violence Program does not have high regards in stopping domestic abuse. The four types of laws associated with domestic violence refer to protection orders, non-dropping protection orders, immediate arrest of the abuser, and health services. The results have concluded that when an abuser is arrested the sentence may be to join a group for mental health, or a support group for therapy. This is not very resourceful for men who are abusing. The treatment offered for male abusers is not very often available for women abusers. The results for ineffective treatment given to men was because of the assumptions offered that are not followed by good psychological knowledge.
The service for obtaining a protection order is not very useful. It is proven that an abuser will break the order to abuse or threaten to abuse again. The orders also can increase abuse for victims if an order is placed. Research has found that the order only give secure thoughts, and not full protection from an abuser.
The Mandatory arrest law that some states have can increase the violent crimes. Some victims do not want their spouse to be put in jail, but call to get their partner to settle down or leave the home. If an abuser does get arrested because the victim called the police; then the abuse will be worse or even cause death the next time. Victims will be afraid to call the police in fear of their spouse being arrested. IF the abuse exculpates it could result in someone being killed by the abuse. This has not shown much helpfulness in the defeat of domestic violence. There are services that do help to get victims lives back on track. Those services work well. Just a handful of services need adjusting to receive better evaluation of their usefulness.
