Ford Mustang is an automobile of the Pony Car segment of the production of Ford Motor Company. Nowadays, this model is familiar practically to everyone, mainly due to its vivid design and physical characteristics. The model itself has a long history, and experienced both ups and downs throughout its evolution. The first variant of 1964-65 was created on the basis of Ford Falcon, a popular family sedan of that time. The first serial Mustang got off the conveyor in 1964 (Bowling, 2004). On April 17 of 1965 the car was introduced to public in New York, and on April 19 Mustang was shown on all the three American broadcasting networks (Bowling, 2004). The promotion of the car was followed by an active publicity campaign, which is indeed considered as one of the most successful premiers in the history of car manufacturing. During the first 18 months there was sold more than one million of the first model of Mustang. Times change, however, as so does can industry. The sixth generation of the legendary muscle-car was introduced in 2013, and is currently the newest model of Mustang. The external features of Ford Mustang are partly borrowed from the concept of Ford Evos, which was presented in Frankfurt several years ago. Among these peculiarities Mustang proposes the radiator screen, head optics and the profile of the front bumper.
Furthermore, Mustang is very convenient for owners from all over the world. During its development, the manufacturers of Ford Mustang considered the preferences of both American and European customers, which is not a mere coincidence. Hence, from now on, Mustang will be sold officially in the Old World as well. The present equipment of Mustang also include special suspension settings and different engine rates.
Apart from the majority of other automobiles, Mustang is peculiar for its good adaptation to high-speed rotations. Engineers also modified the brake system and steering. Furthermore, the steering wheel of Mustang allows changing settings of the booster, thus making the wheel heavier or lighter. The traction control and transmission of Mustang also adapt to the change of settings.
Mustang is also favored by its powerful engine. The car is equipped with the Ford engine of the V6 example with the volume of 4 liters. The new engine introduced along with the fresh design in 2004 provides the power of 210 horsepower with 5300 rotations per minute (Horne, 2015). This powerful engine is comes bundled with the automatic five-speed gearbox. Though Mustang GT is equipped with the same automatic gearbox as the V6 model, it is optional to install the five-speed gearbox Tremec 3650, with the help of which it is possible to use the additional power of the GT model more rationally (Sessler 179).
On the whole, Mustang is a very attractive car that many car enthusiasts will find advantageous from many points of view. Despite its relatively high fuel consumption and aggressive design and size, Mustang appears a truly unique automobile that has already strengthened itself on auto market. Indeed, owning a Mustang involves owning a part of iconic history, since this model has its profound history of development. With that, Mustang is fully customizable, which means that it is easy to change and add some new parts to it or modify the characteristics. Finally, Mustang appears a reliable and affordable car that fully pays off in time, thus making this model a truly worthy purchase.
