Having taken the personality test and answered all the questions, I came to a conclusion that my personality type is ISTJ. I should admit that the information describing my features almost coincide with my own vision of my character. Among 16 types this one suits me the best.
I was pleased to find out that several U.S. presidents had the same personality type as I have. George Washington and George H. W. Bush are those people who, to my mind, possessed the same qualities that I have. I see George Washington as a very intelligent, energetic and persistent man, who could set a goal and gain it in spite of all the possible obstacles. He could work on his own improvement, cope with hardship and defeat and always remained quiet and composed like a genuine leader (President George Washington: Psychohistory and Psychological Profile, n. d.). Both of us are responsible and patient.
Taking into consideration George H. W. Bush’s features, I realize that he is a very conventional man and that he appreciated traditional American values. His obedience to traditions may be seen in his desire to be in public service like his ancestors were. His responsibility cannot be doubted when we focus on the fact that he together with Barbara Pierce brought up 6 children (George H. W. Bush, n. d.). Both of us have qualities of a leader, who can be trusted.
Analyzing the facts concerning my personality type it is necessary to emphasize that I am a very serious and responsible person. If I have promised once to do something, then I’ll do my best in order to keep the word. Work and duty play the most significant role in my life. I agree with the assumption that ISTJs will stay at working place as long as it is needed to finish the project or assignment (Portrait of an ISTJ. The Duty Fulfiller, n. d.).
One more peculiar feature of my personality type is lack of emotions. I cannot say that I am emotionless at all, it won’t be truth, but I prefer to be reserved and quiet. When there is an appropriate situation, then I can show my sense of humor and prove that I can enjoy life as it is. I like order in everything, no matter whether it is work, home or life. Everything should be arranged on the shelves for me to be able to find a necessary thing without loss of time. ISTJs are conventional and I am not an exception. When there is a law – it should be followed, when there is trodden pass – there is no need in leaving the beaten track, when there is a tradition – it is to be kept.
ISTJs care about their families. It is easier for them to prove their allegiance by deeds, rather than by words. Very often words mean nothing, as silence is gold. It is always a great pleasure to achieve the chosen goal; it is often the sense of my life. Choosing between rumors mixed with emotions and facts I will always prefer the latter, as I can rely on them.
I think psychological tests are necessary to be taken in order to understand your inner nature better. You may be aware of some typical features that are revealed through everyday activities, but still there is something that you cannot explain. In this respect personality test shows other sides of your character. Although it took a lot of time to answer 72 questions, but this quantity is enough to provide you with objective information. I found out that I can make good use of my features to gain success; I understood motivation of some of my actions, which I could not explain earlier.
The best thing that was given me by personality test is the list of jobs and activities in which my ISTJ-type can be realized to the best advantage. Taking into account the fact that punctuality is my second nature (this fact was proved by the test); I understood that at the very begging of my career such jobs as clerk or secretary will suit me (ISTJ Description by Joe Butt, n. d.). I am proud that there were many famous successful people with ISTJ-type, and it inspired me to challenge my ambitions to start my own business. I’m sure that now I’m more self-aware of my personality type.
In general, I would like to point out that I agree with the results of the test only to a certain extend. I like my psychological portrait and I see a lot of vivid peculiarities that pertain to my character. The noncoincidence can be explained by the fact that there are no perfect psychological tests and there are no two similar persons. The general character of results still remains. On the other hand, the results of this personality test are the most accurate.
