The movie ‘The Matrix’ revolves around a computer programmer and a hacker named Thomas Anderson, who played by the name Neo during his hacking stint. He opted to find out the meaning of ‘the Matrix’, a cryptic phrase which he constantly encounter, by setting a meeting with a futuristic group headed by Morpheus. Through his journey to find out the truth, he found out several threats to human beings where it actually fights with intelligent machines in the 21st century. Neo exemplified exceptional skills during virtual combat that led the team of Morpheus to believe that he is the prophesied one to rescue and end the war between humans and machines.
This movie showed several aspects of symbolisms that, when closely investigated, will reveal interesting interpretations that might relate in today’s world. The Matrix in itself is a representation of a communist world built by the Sentinels who can breed from it for their survival. The Sentinels represents the Capitalist in the real world who can gain and explore their power in the modern world to maintain their resources, otherwise, there will be scarcity and eventually will lead to death. Neo became part of the communist world, which eventually learned that there are mistakes being implemented within it and fought his way out to free him from the boundary system of communism. Also, prior to fully getting in to communist world, Morpheus offered Neo a red or blue pill, for him to decide on his fate. Neo took the red pill which is the color of communism.
In reality, this movie represents some countries, which up until this moment, employs communism to take control of their people and their sovereignty. A classic example of country governed by the system communism is Cuba. Being a communist, the control of money, health, care and food and even political decisions is solely within the dominion of the government.
