7 Crippling Parenting Behaviors That Keep Children From Growing Into Leaders
Summary:
This report informs 7 damaging parenting behaviors that keep children from becoming leaders in their own lives as well as the world at large.
1. Parents do not allow their children experience risk
Parents devote themselves to protect their children from risk. These kinds of children develop phobias as children. It is important for children to participate in outdoor activities in their lives. Parents’ protection of risk ensures they develop into arrogant and self-esteem leaders in future.
2. Too much Assistance
Parents in this generation solve problems of their children; this permits the development of life skills. Parents assist children from encountering difficult situations that are important in preparing them in the daunting task of leadership. The world has many problems that require leaders with life skills that many children in this generation do not have.
3. Wrong Mentality
Parents often praise their children too much and this places a wrong perception on the children’s lives. The parents condition misdemeanor on the lives of the children at a tender age.
4. Parents Spoil the Children
Parents provide for the children everything instead of what is important in their lives. Parents reward children inconsequentially and this fails to enforce that rewards emanate from own effort. Children fail to experience intrinsic motivation and unconditional love.
5. Parents failure to share their Mistakes
Parents do not share mistakes in their lives to help the children make good decisions. It is important for the parents to share past mistakes so that when the children are in similar situations can make better decisions.
6. Parents assume Intelligence
Parents wrongly assume that intelligence in their children translates to maturity. Many people with talent are often found in a public scandal to illustrate that giftedness does not translate to maturity.
7. Failure of Parents being Role Models
Parents do not practice the kind of life they expect their children to learn. Parents speak lies and expect children to learn to speak honest words. It is important for parents to speak and act in a similar way since they are the role models of their children.
Opinion
Parents in this generation devote in the happiness of their children instead of preparing them for their future. The earlier parents prepared their children by saving money and preparing for retirement. It is important for parents in this generation do as their parents did. Parents should coach the children instead of pampering them. Parents should discipline their children and mentor them as they grow- up.
