"United Way has a rich history of helping others in the community," said Rick Sunter, United Way's Regional Operations Director, "and we consider it a great opportunity to team up with OSU's historic Sigma Alpha Epsilon to socialize, eat delicious cookies, and raise money for a very good cause, the United Way."
For more than 125 years, United Way has been providing communities with everything from job training and educational opportunities to emergency assistance. Recently, the United Way of Michigan's Genesee County has been helping residents of Flint affected by its water crisis. Many residents of Flint are now benefitting from filters, freshwater supplies, and filtration systems provided by the United Way to residents in need.
"Our fundraiser at OSU's Sigma Alpha Epsilon will benefit many residents of Stillwater

who are going through tough times, economically speaking -- folks who need assistance with inexpensive housing, community dental and vision services, as well as more funding for our elderly in the community," Sunter continued.
"We just really feel honored and excited to be able to help empower our great University city," Sunter added, "and, hopefully, Insomnia Cookies will have a great turnout, marking yet another year of an outstanding collaboration with a first-class University."
"This year, more than 100 students, guests, and alumni are expected to come out to the fundraiser," Sunter said.
"Last year, the United Way Fundraiser brought in nearly $3,000, money which went primarily to its new dental assistance program for the poor and elderly,", Sunter added.
"Well, after 125 years-plus, the United Way is definitely here to stay, but we will always need community support from fine national organizations such as Sigma Alpha Epsilonour long tradition of service and giving back parallels the mission of this fraternity," Sunter stated.
Founded on March 9th, 1856, Sigma Alpha Epsilon has the unique distinction of being the only fraternity founded in the antebellum south, said John Snyder, SAE's Operation Director. "Our tradition of service to our community, our college, and our members is exceptional, and despite some recent controversy, this tradition is something we want to see continue, and we consider it both an honor and a privilege to have United Way as a guest in our house," he added.
