This refers to the effort to influence or control an individual way of belief, aims and the behaviours. Persuasion can either be positive or negative. Meaning that an individual can be persuaded to either continues with their way of life of be discouraged to drop it. Persuasion were not only used for influence but can as well be applied as a medium of gains. For instance, one, can persuade a group of people to stand by them in order to gain something. Persuasion can be well expressed using several cultural predispositions in order to bring out influence in the best way possible. These can be done through: the use of cultural patterns, cultural images as well as myths and the use of multicultural faces of persuasion.
The cultural patterns are used effectively to bring about much influence when persuading individuals to accept or reject something about their culture. Cultural patterns are referred to as the beliefs, values, behavioural as well as institutional patterns that help in thinking about the society. They are passed to young people in their early stages of life. This is done through the use of the language they teach, the tales hear, and the observations make from those lived with them. After getting to know these beliefs and activities, they were required to use them in order to pity their culture so that they would not go against it in their old age. This is because they can make sense from their culture because of the importance they learned from the cultural patterns exposed to them. A good example of these is the dressing code of Muslim women. They had this dressing pattern where they were to cover the upper face and the head. American women, on the other hand, did a lot of decorations on their bodies.
Cultural images and myths are other predispositions used to influence persuasion effectively on the society. These are known as the actual or creative narrative that outlines the values and the system the society. Some of these cultural activities were borrowed from other societies who lived around the one in question. The value system in the society was seen as the hierarchical network of the values and beliefs that pity the society. In the American society the values of beauty, honesty, safety, efficiency among others are the major source of persuasion because of the value system that exist in that society. The myth of possibility of success shows a lot of persuasion to many especially those who faces difficulties in achieving success in their lives. It is found in many television series and at end of each section it will have persuaded most of the people whom it to achieve success.
Multi-cultural faces of persuasions another mode of predisposition in the society. Culture is a very strong determinant of a person's way of life.one culture is different from the other. This, therefore, show that the languages used; patterns of behaviours and beliefs also differs according to each culture. As a result of this, individual will be more persuaded by his own culture than the one from another society in the event that he relocates to a different destination where culture differs from his own.
In conclusion, we can see that persuasion in the society can be achieved through several cultural activities which easily passes them from one generation to the next. One, therefore, does not need to take a lot of time persuading others to appreciate several things in the society as the culture itself serves well in that context.
