Thinking before speaking or acting is a very important skill in socializing. It prevents embarrassment or offending others. It entails listening, thinking about it, analyzing the situation then giving feedback by way of speech or through actions. According to my friend, my ability to think before speaking depends on the situation. I am a very attentive listener who takes time before replying or reacting. I am also very slow in following instructions. I do not rush into the decision making because I am cautious and attentive to detail that I do not get tricked or wrong.
However when I am picked on, I get very defensive. I can say just anything to win an argument. When helping out people who are at loggerheads, I am very attentive and impartial and very keen to the details of the problem. In my opinion, I think I am very good at listening and thinking first before acting. When I am picked on, I get rather defensive but I still take time to think and I do not just say anything to win arguments. I follow the rules of successful negotiation to enable me to win an argument.
The fact that people come to me when they are disagreeing proves that I am thoughtful when it comes to making decisions. On following instructions, I am only slow in following them when they come from peers. This is because they are likely to pull pranks as compared to older people. In general, my friend’s opinion is that I am good at thinking before reacting. I agree with her. This is because though I have my moments when I react too fast, most time I do take my time to think through the situation.
