Shrek is an amazing animation movie, what could be enjoyed not only by children but also by adults all over the world. This fascinating cartoon is a fictional story directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, who brilliantly portrayed a green, smelly and ugly ogre called Shrek and his adventures. This cartoon has a really deep sense that is hidden in it and it can be understood not by all individuals.
The story starts quite originally, once upon a time there lived an evil ogre, Shrek and it was considered to be cruel and disgusting. Later on, he becomes the protagonist of the story as he must save a lovely princess. He is in charge of the operation and when he meets the talking donkey their adventure is about to start. The friendship tandem of Shrek and the donkey shows us how strong the relationship may be between two different personalities. Shrek adored his land and believed it to be a sacred place of his privacy, so when the Lord Farquaad decided to possess it, Shrek accompanied by the talking donkey went straight to his palace and demanded to give it back to its true owner, Shrek. Lord Farquaad agreed to return it, but he wanted to make a kind of deal, he asked Shrek to save princess Fiona, his future fiancée from the tower which was guarded by a mighty dragon and boiling hot lava. Shrek was not a Prince Charming, though he and his donkey friend saved the princess from the dragon. They could be burnt by the dragon but they managed to and were lucky enough to be alive. Nevertheless, Fiona disregarded this heroic deed. Firstly she did not like the ugly ogre, but later she felt that there were some sparkles between them.
On the second night, when they journey to palace continued,Fiona decided to hide in the windmill. She has transformed into an ugly green ogre, she lost her beauty and she was not a human anymore. She found out that she was spelled, and from now on she would be transformed into an ogre, every night at sunset. She was quite disappointed, as she was a princess, though she was brave enough to overcome her fate and be Fiona, green ogre princess. She was portrayed as a strong feminine also the main female protagonist in the story, who would not wait for Shrek or somebody else to protect her. She easily fought such male saviors as Robin Hood and later on Bro-bin Hood and his crew of Frenchmen, as she was a skilled karate enthusiast. She saved not only herself but also Shrek and Donkey, faster than they could open their mouths to say a word or move to help her. She is a powerful personality, who managed to live on happily, despite her appearance.
What is more, when she was found by the donkey in the windmill she told her friends, Shrek, and Donkey that it can be broken by a kiss, but not a simple one, it should be the true love kiss. Here we found out that Shrek was already in love with her and thought that she did not like him because he was ugly. When she decided to reveal her true feelings , the sun rose and she was taken by Lord Farquaad, who wanted to marry her in order to become a king. But when the sun set, Fiona became an ugly ogress again and lord refused to marry her. She stayed spelled, she decided to marry Shrek and to wait until they mutually fall in love.
I picked a scene when Fiona was in the windmill hiding from Shrek and Donkey in order not to be exposed that had already become an ogress. Shrek and his friend Donkey were sitting by the fire and talking about Shrek’s affection to Fiona. In my opinion, Fiona would not be so diffident as Shrek was at that moment, she would go straight to Shrek kiss him and tell him all her feelings. I think her reaction would be positive as she was about to confess that she felt a deep connection with him and did not want to get married until she knew for sure whether it was a love or just a friendship.
All things considered, I strongly recommend to watch this light-hearted and fast-moving cartoon, with fairy characters and amazing adventures. And in spite of the views of the critics, I thoroughly enjoyed the cartoon, it is a legend, it will never lose its actuality and it will be popular forever, from generation to generation.
