Pursuant to the request to research on alternatives to Facebook and Twitter, I am optimistic at recommending Chatter. Chatter, a social networking service developed by Salesforce.com, a San Francisco based enterprise software leader has shown potentials for serving our organization’s professional networking needs. Likewise, Chatter could cater to our organization’s requirements through its features that focus on communicating and disseminating professional endeavors. Concurrently, Chatter has been revealed to be used by prestigious organizations like Dell as well as Saatchi & Saatchi.
- Chatter is disclosed to be easy to access due to the ‘real time collaboration cloud’ feature;
- Employees create profiles which are linked to relevant stakeholders in the organization;
- Management could track performances of employees based on updates, comments, and feeds;
- Comments and updates are linked to an integrated running feed;
- Profiles are searchable according to skills;
- Chatter recommends people to follow based on explicitly identified tasks, activities, and jobs.
I am also enumerating some crucial aspects that need to be taken into account, as noted below:
- If the organization applies any of Salesforce.com business software, the monthly fee ranging from $65 to $125 would be retained with no extra charge for Chatter;
- As a stand-alone product, Chatter costs $15 per month per user.
Should you require additional information on Chatter, just send me an email in response to the memo. I could make direct inquiries from the customer sales representatives of Salesforce.com to address matters that need clarifications. I would be looking forward to hearing from you soon.
