However, the increase in human population, industrialization, and globalization of industry continue to undermine the capacity of the earth. For over a hundred year, the population of human beings on the planet often realize the different forms of sustaining the lives of human beings. However, in doing so, a lot of natural resources have been depleted and worse corrupted the very resources upon which all life on the planet is sustained. The last century is a clear indication of the trajectory on which the planet is and unsustainable it can be for life on the planet.
Scientists project that as of 2025, the earth’s critical limits about its capacity to sustain human life will have been surpassed. As it is, there is an acute imbalance in the distribution of resources between developed and developing countries. This imbalance has led to mass depletion of natural resources and contamination of critical resources like water and air in developed nations. On the other hand developing nations struggle with environmental conservation issues. Cases of deforestation and desertification have been critical influences in decreasing the natural resources and in turn the capacity of the planet to support life. In the recent past, some of the most significant markers of the sustainability of human activity include the melting of the ice caps or perhaps the impending extinction of a lot of different species of animals. Either way, the continued increase in human population makes for a significant mark for imprudence of human development over the last century. While optimism often makes for a better narrative, the course on which the world is on is not sustainable.
